You provided no detail at all to your argument and your post was nothing short of vague. If you want to debate things, then bring your sources to the table, don't just twiddle your thumbs and think people will stop questioning you by claiming you have several sources and then not show any.

On-topic: I have one that I use on occasion for when I need to get in contact with people on the fly. Its saved me lots of irritation with the annoyances I call my family since they have this annoying habit of worrying incessantly if I don't let them know what I'm doing every once in awhile. I don't consider it a necessity to my life but it definitely makes some things easier for me overall.

I know this is off-topic but to me there isnt much difference in talking on a phone and having a good conversation with someone in the passengers seat. They both make you distracted. Its the same with hands free mobiles...

Well even though I don't use mobile phones or even normal telephones that much I wouldn't say that their pointless. Well a mobile phones is basicly used to make contact with other people much easier even though their far away. Newer mobile phones are also use as a source of entertainment and information [music, videos, internet access, games]. But that doesn't mean that their necessary, I know a lot of people who doesn't have mobile phones yet they lives just fine.

^^^ i agree, cellphones are great if you have nothing to do or is the only thing to do, but multi tasking with it... that leads to failure

That's a great way of coping out and saying 'I have no proof'.

    Irrelevant.

And you still don't have any proof.

mobile phones are by no means pointless. first of all mobility, u cant carry your home phone all over the plzce. what about if u reach in an accident if u have a cell phone you can call your family or if you are unconcious someone could call a number from the phone. if you are lost, u could get help. you can report andy illegal thing happening if you are passing some where and the list goes on.. i really luv my cell phones, its really cool

ok, cellphones are pointless to the point when you need them... driving a car and being on a cellphone is pointless, pull over

    Wow...
    I laugh at your sources.
Would you use that in a research paper? No. If you did, I would guarantee that you would fail.
The first is like me using yahooanswers as a source. User input, blogs, etc. is not a good source.
Second source is a poorly-made angelfire site. Wow.

Look at the integrity of your sources before you post any more.

Do supply more. Those examples are the equivalent of Yahoo Answers, and UFO supersites on Geocities. Both lack credibility to an amazingly large, and laughable amount. It's a joke that you even provided those as 'proof'.

The Angelfire page does nothing to say that reducing the amount of letters damages the language, because it doesn't. You can't damage a language, you can only modify it, and everyone who speaks it will either adapt or create their own dialect.

The Answerbag page is just hilarious. Two people who have no idea what they're talking about, probably 12-13 year olds (ever read Yahoo Answers) and is riddled with such obvious typos that it's hilarious that people even take it seriously.

Also, I originally wanted sources for your claim, "cell phones do more harm than good."

I was unaware that you made a second baseless claim.
    Carry on.
