How to get Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story working for R4 SDHC Users (Confirmed by kguy528):

1. Go to R4ultra.com and download the 1.54 english kernel and move files directly to the root of your SD

2. Download the 1.4.1 Akaio loader from the first page of this topic and move files directly to the root. (Yes, you will use two loaders)

3. Take a clean rom of ML3, and manually patch it via the patch in the first post of this topic

4. Instead of going to your roms when you start up your R4, select AKmenu4.nds that should be in the root
along with the _aio folder. Select your patched ML3 rom and play the game.

5. There you go! I am well past the bowser tutorial battle so far, and nothing has gone wrong. Enjoy. ;D

Note: It is very important that the contents of the Akaio 1.4.1 be in the root of your SD card, otherwise it will not work properly. This same method also works for Kingdom Hearts, taking the manually patched ROM and loading it via Akaio.

Update on the patch Saving does work on the R4DS but going into save and quit will give the white screen of death

Just choose Save and Continue, then power off if you wish to stop playing. I don't think a code will fix the issue with Save and Quit, it is likely a firmware issue, due to it having to reload the kernal after quitting the game, similar to a soft reset, but without running the soft reset portion of the firmware.

i did the ysmenu + TTDS menu(for r4), but i keep getting
"rom loading failed
disk errcode=-2147483632
please restart system" message. whats going on!?!?

Thank you so much. After downloading and editing and doing all this crazy stuff, this download finally allowed me to get past the new file screen! (Im running original R4).

For some reason I get a black screen after choosing the save file. DX
and white screens when I chose mic test.

What am I doing wrong? =_=;;;

use my post and download this delete everything in your sd card except your games folder and just extract everything in it should work with the r4ds after extract just run the clean version of the rom

There is no patched rom at the moment for the r4ds 1.18 you have to install r4ds with 1.18 ysmenu and use the newest unofficial dstt firmware go up a few posts and theres a link where you can download it all ready just gotta move it to ur microsd

i did install YSmenu but it says "fatinit error! please reset system"
What to do?

ok. I've tried all methods. nothing works. runnin an r4 sdhc revolution. i tried kguy's method, but there is no text in the akaio launcher, and the only thing that does work in that menu is the launch slot-2. any suggestions?
