Low-down on PSP?

OK, so I've got an important question, and it's sorta a dealbreaker...

Can I use the internet browser and plugins like GoTube without having to go through PSN? (and then be banned and unable to use the net)

 

I can surf the net and I have CFW. Never haven't logged in the PSN in a while. I forget my login and stuff anyways.

So no, you don't need to go through PSN to access the net.

 

You can't be banned from using the internet on your psp...
you can watch and download youtube videos with some psp apps/plugins found on qj.
there are psn patches also, if you wish to go into the psn store in the future...

Oh, right...one last thing I wanted to ask.

I'm getting either a star wars or daxter PSP, since they have hackable hardware.

However, if I buy it and by chance it comes with recent firmware (e.g. 6.35-6.37), how far could I downgrade it? Could I get it far enough to install 5.00 m33-6 or 5.50 GEN? Thanks.

You can downgrade to whatever firmware you want as long as you have a Jigkick battery. You can also probably use the new HENs to downgrade to CFW. I actually use 6.35 Beta 11 right now. I may go to 6.37 if it offers anything new.
