It's it not like they could pay it off anyway?

But then wouldn't the debt just go to their sons and daughters and family?

Considering the size of that debt, it'll probably go to them anyways.

That is what happens. My uncle died with a megar hearing aid bill(75$USD). They called my grandmother all the way until she passed in 2007, trying to get her to assume that silly debt.

Then they called my mother. The debt was from 1988. That was the only bill he had at the time of his passing in 1992. For 75 Trillion, they'll dig you up and put your corpse to work for that amount.

it probably cost them more than $75 to chase the bill...

Also considering my hearing aids cost £2,500 (about $4,000 USD) each I'm glad I didnt have to pay for them.

I wouldn't even fathome how much they wasted doing that. My uncle was born with kidney and hearing problems. He always fulfilled his debts. The bill was postmarked July 1988, but it was not received until December 1992, three months after his passing.

75 Trillion is egregious. Asinine to the fullest extent of asininity.
But then again, in the US, you're told to sue for far more than you'll actually get. That way the courts will allow you to haggle on the judgment, if you win that is.

Over that peroid of time, way more I reckon.
I once got another bill for a phone bill I had already paid, It was about £30, I just thought it was a cock up and ignored it. Years later after tons of demands and even bailiffs coming round to threaten me with court and taking my possesions I finally showed them the original bill paid and stamped by the bank. If they had just asked politely I would have saved them a lot of money.

How can 75 trillion be paid? Surely they are not realistically expecting them to pay, I think its as much a warning to others.

They'll be able to pay it when the time comes that scientist have managed to create a mutated plant that makes money instead of fruits and that money begins to really grow on trees...like those things from the Sims games (forgot what they're called). XD

The thing is, and I hope it won't happen, that the kids of the creators of the program will also continue to pay to the debt....

It wont happen, no court would award that much in damages. It will be reduced as always happens, because the RIAA/MPAA always ask for absolutely unrealistic amounts
