    1) what do you mean ethics? You can push your emotions to one side, but you can't stop feeling them. A religious person feels no worse for killing someone than a serial killer, a serial killer's brain is just better at dealing with it.

2)What is the one thing we have done? I definately agree that our knowledge of the human brain is not as good as it needs to be.

That's probably just a different translation of the emotion by that particular person's brain.

Killing isn't funny. Unless it's done in a particularly humorous/ironic fashion.

can you be a bit more clear on what you mean by funny?! are you referring funny as in the literal context as humor or as in the form of pleasure and entertainment?!

killing isn't great unless the social norms [rules] are favored for it. if you look at star trek for instance, though a movie but offers great concepts, and look at the hirogen [from star trek voyager] they love to hunt. when you hunt and win their trophy, they stuff them [taidermi]. though it is a bad thing on the idea of killing, in their society, killing [in the form of hunting] is respectable.

    yes you have.

"1) what do you mean ethics? You can push your emotions to one side, but you can't stop feeling them. A religious person feels no worse for killing someone than a serial killer, a serial killer's brain is just better at dealing with it." by gaynorvader of romulation.net

and in the star trek example i gave, there is no remorse from the hirogens for killing their prey.

btw, i hope i didn't offend you gaynorvader and anyone else by trying to point out that you did made implications on killing. if it bothers you i'll try to prevent it from happening in the future. i'm explaining because i don't want people to feel that this site is full of nutjobs and a-holes. seph and everyone else has provided a great site and i like this site. people are respectable to each other.
