It's really weird if you compared us humans to the other living beings on earth.

Unlike us humans where the male gender is the dominant one, in other life forms it's the females who are the prime leaders.

Take for example insects, the social or to be more correct, the colonial ants & bees, are examples of beings where 95% of the populace is female & males are only born to continue the colony's life cycle all over again.

its hard to treat woman equally. In fact its hard to be fair to other, in my area, woman is offen get all the help she can get while men is you are on your own.

    and

Mom: No matter what, you cant hit a girl, because its not a nice to hit a girl
Me: What if the girl hit me?
Mom: Then you should take it like a men

    equal? ya right.....

Many animals have the male as the dominant sex, lions being the most obvious.

The male lion is a big free loader, yes he gets to lay the females in his pride but all the important jobs are left to the females, including the hunting of prey.

This is according to what National Geographic is telling us though. I think loony can confirm that or debunk it.

Another example in the Mammalian kingdom is the Elephant, whose leader is a female.

@Cal: I agree, if women want equality they should also refuse & get rid of that social stigma, that they always need consideration first above men. That whole "women & children first" mentality is so not cool, in this day & age. If they can fight with the boys, they should.

Same goes with that "don't hit girls" crap, what if the girl wants to mug you, shouldn't you defend yourself? And this might contradict what I've been saying about men beating up women, but how about men being beaten up by women? You think that's funny or unlikely? It isn't it can happen though it's rare.

It is the male's responsibility to defend the pride.

Thanks for that bit loony, but from whom? From man likely &/or another prospecting male. I also saw (on National Geographic) that succeding male lions also kill the offspring of the previous male, if they are still young enough, to cut the genetic lineage.

from other lions and in some cases other animals (i.e hyenas). It is correct that males who take over a pride will kill the offspring of the previous male, what is also not generally known is that if the offspring of the previous male have not yet been born, their mother will reabsorb the fetus, effectively killing the unborn cubs, and allowing the mother to become pregnant again.

Hyenas attack lions, that's definitely something I didn't know. So abortion exists outside the human spectrum as well then?.

Also on another National Geographic referrence, some birds also do infanticide, that is a new male who replaces a lost male (maybe due to being eaten by a predator) intentionally kills the later's offspring by having the chicks or eggs dropped from the nest.

We may have strayed off topic, but it was worth it for the information :)

Hyenas are scavengers but if there are weaken Lions or Cubs then they will attack for food, I like Hyenas because they have a sense of humour and are related to dogs, although they are also related to Cats as well.

cuckoos regularly commit infancide, when they need a nest they find another birds nest and tip the eggs out.

Hyenas will attack anything deemed weaker than their collective selves (they are pack animals). They do not have a sense of humour, that is a common misconception, and they are in their own genus, although closely related to canids.

In fact, a while back there was a Morani (young Massai warrior) performing the ritual to pass into manhood. The ritual required him to fight and kill an adult male lion armed with only a spear. He killed the lion, but was wounded in the fight. He was subsequently attacked and killed by a pack of hyenas.

The Massai, I saw from The Wild Thornberrys about their people, they do have such a ritual.

Forgive me for the lame source though.

In the words of Borat: "Is it not a problem that the woman have a smaller brain than a man? The government scientist Dr. Yamuka has proved it is size of squirrel."

the way loony describe the situation is appropriate. the reason why it's appropriate killing is that the lion conquered the weak and would not want to raise weak children nor to keep a lineage of weak lion members. in addition, the lion also wants to raise it's own offspring, not someone elses.

the bird situation is the same thing. it's all appropriate in nature because it's about survival of the fittest and their need to continue a heritage. for humans, it conflicts because we use sex as other forms of objectivity. being raped for instance is justifiable to have an abortion as humans because it's not a child you want and was imposed on you by force. to have a child and tell the child that he or she was a mistake is very wtf!

it's not a matter of conquering the weak, its a matter of the lion not wanting the cub to grow up and challenge him.
