Reburbished I bought a desktop with 8 GBs of RAM, a 1 GB video card, a amd phenon quad core, with a terabyte of hard drive space. For $400. You can get a good desktop for a very low cost.

Okay, as of now I am sticking with a PC, no I am still waiting to get one. Maybe in Christmas? Or as soon as the Back-To-School Sale. Either way, I will probably get a cheap one. Like a really bad spec one.

Desktop is the absolute of computers. With desktops you can do anyhing. They are extremely easy to upgrade and are quite powerful. Laptops are only for traveling and for college. Now everyone thinks laptops are so awesome but they are not. Most people who have them dont even need them because they are to lazy to get up and go to a desktop. Most kids want laptops because they seem "cool" but in reality they are much weaker and can only handle a few simultanious running program before they crash. I do think in the future laptops and the like will replace most desktops but desktops will most likely still be around for many years to come.

agree with that,,, most people (especially kids and teenagers) use laptop cause they think it's cool,,

i don' think that laptop would replace desktop,,,, desktop would always be need,,,

Buy desktops for power and serious use. Laptop only as a second computer for when you're traveling or something.

    Where do assign? XD
    You've sayd everything!
My opinion stands for Desktop, they're good, better than Laptop and cheap at same time, y'know I don't see a laptop that can handle a GPU like GTX 460, or even HD5970, Laptop is only good for those that surf in the net, go msn and thing, but if you do use lots of programs, heavy ones, no doubt that desktop is better.
And if Desktop is dyeing, why Nvidia, ATI Radeon, Intel and AMD are aways investing in it the most powerful hardware?
besides can't use laptop as a server, that's ridiculous lol

Geez with a price like that you can buy the ATI Radeon HD5970 that i much better and cheaper with a good hardware, such as I7 and Phenon x6

Asus does a gaming laptop that's both cheaper and slightly more powerful than Alienware gear.

You won't get a "true" high-end computer for that much, but it's a close-run thing.
