SoulSilver's pokedex is not translated yet as of beta 2.0 patch.
And please, bring back UPPERCASE names. Or give us a patch to do so. Thanks.

Also, the random trainers are still with japanese (romaji) names. Would it be possible to change them to their US names aswell, just for consistency (with the Pokégear and etc)?

 

Downloaded the 2.0 beta version (Silver Version)
Umm the NPC in the Safari Zone Pokemon Center still speak Japanese and the boy (Sunny) on route 37 is GONE!
Route 40 NPC and the building is fixed Extra woman (Monica, that is Sunny sister) in Route 40 is good.

Going to change my DS to Sunday to see if the Route 37 is good

Okay I checked and the boy (Sunny) is OKAY! I hope the other NPC named Tuscany, Wesley, Arthur, Frieda and Santos speaks English.

 

^So v2 still has the pokedex in Japanese for SS?

BSNAllstar - You can easily switch your save over to HG, just get the HG Rom and rename your save.

 

ill wait for the full v2 patch I cant save on either v1.5 or 2.0 beta. playing on G6 DS Real on 4.7h firmware

 

That makes no sense though....what about version exclusives and etc?

 

I just gave it a shot and I can save fine on R4 SDHC + YsMenu. (I know, not the same card.)

Anyhow, could there be any add-ons you have interfering? Maybe AR codes and such?

@BSNAllstar: I imagine you just catch the one on your version. If you save afterwards when it comes to a legendary, you couldn't just switch over and catch the other one because you've already saved after the event.

 

that doesnt work xD you can rename youre HG save to a HG rom but not an SS sav to a HG rom !!!

 

I think the pokedex got worse
in v1.5 if you had a Pokemon from the U version the pokedex let you read the information in English.
Now (in 2.0 beta) it won't let me
it will say I am reading it in ENG but I still see Japanese Characters/Writing

But I never used the pokedex so :s I am fine.

So basically you're not believing anybody until you do it yourself or have proof which would be impossible to provide without making videos and such.
Well, whatever.

Edit: It's even two different versions. My Soul Silver is v 1.5 patch and Heart Gold is v2.0 beta. Hah.

 

I'm not trying to insult you or come off as pessimistic but it seems impossible/risky.

 

You could just backup your .sav files like I did. I'm reverting back now.
I even saved on Heart Gold that was originally a Soul Silver .sav and loaded it back on Soul Silver.

Everything is fine when I reverted to backups as well.

Edit: You could also attempt this on NO$GBA if you don't want to touch your DS at all.
Edit 2: I realize that I may have come off as angry. It's pretty impossible to convey tone on the net. No worries. =P

 

Backup your save and try it yourself before you start calling people liars. The Japanese saves and the American saves are interchangeable, just like how the HeartGold and SoulSilver saves are interchangeable.

 

A few ways round the problems:
All caps is no big deal: It's better than japanese and we shouldn't be doing this anyway, so don't get picky.
Japanese pokedex descriptions: Search 'Bulbapedia' in google: everything pokemon is there, WITH DESCRIPTIONS!!!
