    not entirely true. Humans can live much longer without food than without water, but they can't eliminate food completely. There's a so called 'rule of three' in play: 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. That does vary depending on the person and the environment, however. Were you to drink only water and eat no food, the water would kill you before starvation did. (electrolyte imbalance, otherwise known as water intoxication).
