Must be nice. Getting HUD housing and food stamps here in the States is a bit more complicated.

I'm not entitled to JSA and either way its not worth the effort for such a small amount. I doubt the housing register is full either, theres probably a massive waiting list because the council cant be bothered to process the applications. (if the people at the jobcentre are any indication of how much work gets done in the council offices).

sanctions only last maximum of 26 weeks, you will be entitled to something, unless you work over 15 hours a week but you say your unemployed for over a year?
my auntie works at the jobcentre so i know, and have used every trick in the book to get everything i can

I get incapacity benefit, you cant have both that and JSA, and the IB is worth twice what JSA would be (also JSA runs out after 6 months, IB only runs out when I get a job).

jsa just switches to contribution based or income based(cant remember which way round) after 6 months, it just stays the same and you recieve same amount, ive done it 3 times now. incapacity benefit is even easier, you would get house and council tax paid and have enough to live on, if its double jsa like you say then you would be getting more than minimum wage for 40 hours.
Still, sometimes i wish i still lived with my parents. when you get in from work, your exhausted and have to cook tea and tidy up etc etc and then by time your done its bedtime because your up again for work.
and the gardening!! i hate cutting grass!

IB is about £106 a week, its far below minimum wage for a full time job. (40 hours a week at minimum wage is £232 a week).

once tax is deducted from wages and you get your rent and council tax paid its more than minimum wage.
jsa is 65 a week then with the rent and c tax i ended up about 20 pound a week down from minimum wage
