Is everyone getting slow download speeds (or is it just me?)

A few days ago I joined, and was getting downloads at 250k-300k per sec... now it's down to 40k per sec if I'm lucky, and 1k per sec if I'm not :(
I wonder if it's cos this site is very busy (everyone grabbing Pokemon Diamond?) or cos my ISP (Idnet) throttles sites like this(?)... or is it something else?

    Any thoughts much appreciated ;)

    Well,
Since your ISP is from the UK, they might be throttling the connection =)
I dont know if Romulation throttles accounts or not.

I am getting my full speed, and always get my full speed when dling from Romulation.net

we've not changed anything recently, to my knowledge. You must also remember that there are other factors involved too, like the amount of traffic on the route you are using.

Um, we haven't done anything? We moved to another server? Granted it's in the same DC and with almost the same host, but still. :)

It's still Odd though, I'm in Europe too and I can get 160 kb/s.

Well we went from a reseller to directly to the provider, since we don't actually go through you then you're not the host. You're the guy who makes sure we get the best deals. ;D
(an equally important job of course. :p)

I don't think anyone got 100s of kB/s on the previous server except when it was new.

Oh I think I know what's "wrong". Before we allowed multiple connections so you could open 10 and get good speeds, which was also why we could never upload anything since the connection was killed.

Now, for some reason, it's limited to 1 connection so obviously speeds are slower. We're working on allowing a little more connections, but nowhere near the old level as we had to upload through HTTP then.

    20-40kb/s here too.

As I said in the other thread, try to use the site off peak times. We use our full 50mbit connection at peak time and we can't afford to upgrade to a dedicated 100mbit.

Would 2-4pm NT be peak times? (12:30pm ET - 2:30pm ET)

    For the slow speeders ;D
    Post a traceroute to romulation.net
I need to see your routes.

Jarrett we found that usually a tracert to the server was fine, but a tracert from the server to the user would result in a horrible result.

in this case the tracert from the server never reached the client because their ISP had configured their routers to drop ICMP packets :(
