    I'll try that too.

Loony, do you think it could be due to the motherboard?

its not impossible, but so far I don't think so.

I just had a hunch if the chipset driver isn't conflicting with the graphics driver?

My mobo is a Gigabyte Technology M61SME-S2L, nForce 405, integrated graphics nVidia 6100. I've never used the integrated one. I'm using the 8600GT i have.

Sorry, i don't remember the chipset driver version, but i'm sure the default one that came with the mobo.

make sure the onboard graphics are disabled in the bios.

BIOS is set to "Enable if no external PEG", so it's off.

you can't set it to disabled? it could be the detection going weird.

It is obviously not starting randomly but when you try multimedia.

Have you tried to remove your external GFX card and see if problem still occurs with integrated graphics?

    @ loony
Nope, there's no "DISABLED" option in the BIOS.

I've tried that, had to fiddle around with the drivers, but it didn't help either. The onboard GFX had the same problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i'm positive that Daemon Tools was the culprit. I'm currently running without DT and everything's running just fine :)

it's quite possible it was, daemon tools installs a driver and it could have been that driver fucking up.
