    Rapidshare can saturate my university connection, I get 1.1MB/s and can download any of their files in about 30 seconds.

    Remember that MB and Mb are two completely different things.

    Hi,there are various factors that affects an internet connection.Some of them are Device, Hardware,Wiring,Virus,Memory, etc..Some of the basic tips for better internet connection are,

    * Check the Start up programs and remove the unwanted
    * Maintain a Decent Space limit at Hard drive
    * Check for Malware, Spyware and bots
    * Clear cookies and temporary history files
    * Close unwanted background tasks if any
    * Reset the modem
    * Browse with latest and updated browser
    * Download using torrents
    * Upgrade your hardware
    After doing these steps your Internet Speed will get increase.Before and after doing these steps then check your uploading and downloading speed in MBps and Mbps from Scanmyspeed.com .

    client end hardware/software will not have a significant effect on connection speed unless a usb1.1 modem is in use, which will limit the maximum speed to 12mbps. Resetting the modem is a bad idea because with ADSL it will cause the DLM to kick in and reduce the connection speed.
