Intel or AMD?

Dual cores will in fact benefit everyone because of the benefits they have to multitasking. More than two cores then you need to be using software coded to take advantage of them to notice any benefit. 64 bit has been around a lot longer than the early 90s, however it was around 2004 that consumer 64 bit processors emerged (I had one of the original AMD 64s) Around the same time, intel were pushing their P4HT chips, and the Althlon X2 was AMD's response to that in early/mid 2005. Intel then had to play catchup for a year or two until they came out with the pentium D/core series.

i know that amd will end up on top again because they're going to do something that is different then what intel is doing. what intel often does is status quo production [things that are not out of the ordinary].

last i looked into this was 10 years ago, was true then as well.

if you do go other than amd, avoid intel celerons. they are low end garbage.

I would avoid the core 2 series as well, they are aimed at laptops and thus have an annoying habit of slowing down at inconvenient times.

Only some of the CPUs are made for laptops. For example, the Kentsfield core (such as Q6600) is for desktops, and I've noticed no slowdowns.

I used to like Intel processors, but after using a laptop with an AMD processor and seeing how well it performed, I must say....I'm never using another Intel processor again.

    AMD
    Don't think twice.
    Seriously.
You should rush out and buy it now
If anyone tries to sell you an Intel
Or tells you to get an Intel
Assume they are trying to do you harm
    and call the police.

After seeing how my AMD PC performed, I switched to Intel. ;D
