If I wanted to buy a new PSP, would I be able to use a flashcart with it?

Well the one that I was looking at was gone so I have been looking around and reading some more. I think that I am going to get a 1000 from someone else. Can I run GEN-D3 on that? Will I be able to play newer game rips also? I read a few places that CFW M33 doesn't work with a lot of newer games. If that is the one that is on it (it's also pre-modded), am I stuck with it or can I change it to something better?

 

If you get the 1000 one, the GEN-D3 will work fine.
And whether you can play newer games or not depends on the CFW, most people use 5.50 Prometheus nowadays.

And yes if you get the one using M33 CFW you can change it to GEN-D3 if you want.
Better read the instruction about it for more explanation though.

 

3000 can be hacked, but partially.

Just make sure the firmware is below 5.03,
if more, then you can only play homebrew games through HBL.

 

and how can i check what version my firmware is?

 

Go to System Settings, scroll down, and choose System Information.

The System Software indicates what firmware version your PSP using now, along with your Nickname and MAC Address.

 

the psp 3004 is the latest one, that one comes with firmware 6.xx
but you can check in settings-->system settings-->system information
