i just got hit with spyware.....

    Actually a study showed that some of the most dangerous sites were sites that specialized in screensavers.

    or more accurately, claim to specialise in screensavers, for most part they're trojans that show pretty pictures or do nothing good.

    ad-aware isn't an antivirus program, it should be used in conjunction with antivirus, not instead of

    I've used Ad-Aware for years and it does a good job. Especially in my case with fam/friends that have major lag due to spyware.

    About a year ago my girlfriends bro was having lag issues and he likes to download porn and such so I insalled it and ran a scan.

    No joke the software found over 2,000 malicious items.

    Works good for "Spyware," only.

    AVG is awesome as well, me and a couple of friends downloaded a bunch of viruses on purpose hid them in the most random places and ran a few AV programs.

    We ran norton first and a couple others, then ran AVG free last.

    AVG found the most.
