Hosting this site alone is enough to be prosecuted for whether the company complains to them personally or not. Sony could file charges tomorrow without ever contacting the site admin, and close romulation down. So either the admin is stupid enough to think that he can't be prosecuted unless they complain first, or he's stupid enough to not know that the rest of his content is illegal...

They can, you can't. And I'm not the one who's hosting the site, I'm not the one that should be expected to stand up to pressure. Removing roms because someone called in is like a drug dealer that stops selling weed because he was caught for it...but still sells coke and heroine because no one's told him to stop yet.

It is easier to ask the site to remove content rather than filing a lawsuit.
Which is what most companies do, but if they don't follow through, then they break out the lawsuit.

Nothing to make my mind up about...the only possibilities are there. Either: a) The admin is stupid enough to think that he can't be prosecuted if no one complains, so he's operating under the delusion that by removing content he is avoiding legal troubles down the road...a.k.a...a coward who's afraid to stand up to some legal pressure. or b) He is stupid enough to think the rest of his content is legal, because no one's complained yet. It's actually a fairly simple equation.

 

You know, it's either having a ton of powerless losers complain or having people that will destroy them complain.

If you stand up to legal issues, you're going to lose if it's a piratical case.
If you get slammed with a lawsuit with copyright issues, you will lose. It's a damn lose-lose situation.

 

Maybe you should look at the sites history, its been closed down before and come back. Would a coward do that?

So you're saying the site owner didn't know that to begin with? That he was stupid enough to host a site like this with the delusion that no one would ever find out about it, or have a problem with it? Or is he just going to keep removing content until there's nothing left but the forum?

Then why remove content? Why not just move the site? Or host the files on an external hosting service, thusly removing any liability and protecting the owner from prosecution? You know...like most of the movie sites do...and all the other big players who actually know what they're doing? There's really only two options here, either the admin's a coward, or an idiot. Take your pick.

And with that, I bid you aloha, I really do have better things to do than deal with people who obviously have no idea how a site like this should be assembled and run, and I've spent too much time trying to educate y'all as it is.

I said, IF you were to be in a lawsuit, you will most likely lose.

Seph has said from the beginning that if a company asks for their content to be removed from Romu's severs he would comply. I fail to see this "hypocricy", you could of atleast had the decency to spell the word properly, that you speak of.
