how would you explain when your dream feels real??

why do we need to sleep??

when you close your eyes, how do you know people are still there??

Because if not, then you'll die from exhaustion.

Because some people tap you on the shoulder when your eyes are closed.

1>>exhaustion??!! you say, suppose you didn't do anything but just sit down on the sofa, you'll still need to go to sleep. am i right or wrong??!!

2>>suppose you're alone and you close your eyes, how do you know that the furniture and such are there in the room when you close your eyes??

    1. Even if you just sit there, you will still feel drowsy at the end of the day.

    2. You know that the things around you are still there because when you talk, the people around you respond.

    1. forget it, it's going nowhere because you can't see what i want you to see.

    2. suppose nothing responds back. how do you know your furniture is there.

suppose you're in a cabin in a forest miles from any humans and animals within 1000 miles away. you stand there and close your eyes. everything is quiet and calm. when you close your eyes, how do you know that there is still a world around you??

    1. You'll have to constantly consume caffeine in order to not feel tired. According to Wikipedia, research shows that sleep is also linked to memory.

    2. Reach forward and touch the table in front of you with your eyes closed. You can feel it, right? Ask the person next to you if they see stuff when your eyes are closed. Obviously, they will be able to.

your denying and materialistic. what some philosophers say is that the senses manipulate people into believeing on what is real and what isn't real [this is something that can't be proven because of our survival needs, breathing for example].

back to my example forest example,
suppose you're in a cabin in a forest miles from any humans and animals within 1000 miles away. you stand there and close your eyes. everything is quiet and calm. when you close your eyes, how do you know that there is still a world around you??

the answer is you can no longer prove that there is a world [non existant]. therefore everything around you isn't existance other then your thoughts. it would be like putting you in an empty field and everything is dark and you can't see, hear, say or do anything, there is no existance other then your thoughts.

this goes back to that sleep question i've been asking you. when you're awake, you use your senses therefore the physical world exists. but when you go to sleep you don't use your senses but your mind [we dream] and it's possible that our existance when we're asleep is from our mind.

I have ESP of my surroundings, and I can 'see' without using my eyes. Hence I was able to evacuate my flat in the black dark after the emergency lighting failed, with no torch. (I actually didn't have one at the time)

you're still using all your senses [your feet and hands]. suppose you were on a wheel chair and couldn't touch the walls [you didn't have to worry about stairs btw] and no sound. what then?

    btw, you're a materialist.

I have no sound, I'm profoundly deaf. and I wasn't touching anything with my hands other than to open doors.

but your feet on the ground gave you locations and a sense of the real world. again, you must eliminate all senses [touch, smell, hear, see, taste].

wearing shoes isn't insulation?, what you're talking about is astral projection, which I used to do frequently.

forget it, your materialistic along with born2killx and jinja [flesh and blood]. this theory is hard to prove because you need to eliminate all forms of sense and only a concentration of the persons thoughts and is something that is hard to do for some people. too bad.

Are you insulting me? Because technically when your eyes are "closed", you're looking at your eyelid, so something IS out there. That's why when your eyes are closed and you are looking at a bright light source, you see reddish orange. Saying "too bad" is also extremely rude. Besides, this is the real world, so "spiritualism" is nearly useless. So I (in my personal opinion) think spiritualism was created by humans themselves to explain worldly phenomena.

Does that make sense? Cause I was just spitting out random bits of my brain. :p

umm... that is what astral projection is all about, leaving the physical plane and exploring another, non-material plane, by using your mind alone.

lol everybody is a materialist? lol ive been called worse things...like a relativist. lol and it doesnt phase me. your unwillingness to accept materialism as a viable means of existence means that you're either trying to be stupid or different...and i doubt its the stupid option...so whats so appealing about being different? materialism works and fits any sort of notion of the external world you could possibly have. if your in a cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere and you close your eyes...nobody actually cares. the theory you've been pushing all this time isnt even deemed viable by philosophers anymore. seperating the mind and the body isn even philosophically possible anymore let alone biological. every thought process that happens in your mind can be linked to a chemical reaction in your brain, which can be in turn linked to motor function in your body. seperating the mind and the body isnt a viable theory for philosophers anymore because it doesnt make sense...

I'm of the mind that I don't really care enough about proving I exist go into a long argument about it. I'm happy with the explanation that if I can drink and smack random girls on the ass that I can't not exist. Mind you, I wish the pain that I felt on the side of my face after performing the latter action didn't exist :p
