There are numerous other ways that an Runescape account could be hacked that doesn't involve viruses or keyloggers.

Phishing is very prevalent on the internet, and the young, the old, and the ignorant are very easy targets.

 

AVG isn't man. The only thing I hate is the frequent updating it does, but the shield is nice, and the scans are helpful, it's thorough in what it does. Now Mcafee and Norton, those suck.

You can use the reason that AVG isn't as reliable in terms of virus detection and removal compared to other commercially sold anti-virus software, such as Kaspersky. Otherwise, AVG does serve its main purpose.

 

1 simple reason why AVG is shit and always has been.

No rootkit protection. HELLOOOOOO! This reason should be sufficient enough for anyone with half a brain but then again people who use AVG usually don't know what a rootkit is, even though it is the primary sector that a virus or malware makes it entry.

People who use AVG free usually spend most of their time on their computers downloading porn, playing video games, and torrent hunt. They hear the word free and think they are getting the deal of the century. Common knowledge people, you get what you pay for. And developers don't just give you software for free.

AVG free is nothing more than fakeware. It gives people that have no tech knowledge the illusion that they have virus protection when in reality all they have is a useless program that looks like its doing something, but really its just sucking up your memory. Not to mention that the detection rates of ANYTHING are considerably less than avast, kasper, and even NORTON.

My personal recommendation for virus and malware protection, that is if your not an internet freeloader and actually give software developers their due by paying for what you download.

#1 Vipre is probably one the most, if not THE most secure virus protection and internet surf protection I've ever had the pleasure of owning. It's not cheap, but it's business class software developed for people who have large business accounts that are connected online at all times. Best part is, if you get a virus while using their product and Vipre doesn't detect it, they will give you a full refund on your product.

#2 Malwarebytes Pro, should be an immediate backup for that "just in case" person like myself who has most of their important data stored on their hard drives. This program will actually find bad sectors in your hard drives as well as your internet protocols that any other software may have missed.

Bottom line is, any software that is free, is 9 outta 10 times fakeware. Same goes for crap like Avast, Kasper, Nod32, etc. Your not paying for these programs so your not going to get the protection that you need. Their just giving you something that looks like it's doing something, but it's really not. But you can't explain this to diehard freeware fanboys because like i said before, these people don't do anything useful on their computers anyways, so why would they care about REAL virus protection.

And to all the fanboys of AVG out their who claim they've NEVER gotten a virus using it, it's called the luck of the draw man, plain and simple. You just haven't been targeted yet. But it's only a matter of time before you do. You probably are infected now and don't even know it. Don't believe me? Download the light version of malware bytes, it lets you use the scanner but you get no real time protection. I bet CASH MONEY that it finds over a dozen trojans, and malware that your awesome AVG doesn't even recognize.

 

So following your logic are you saying Malwarebytes free is fakeware as well since you said nine out of ten free AV apps are fakeware?

Ever heard of doing a CHKDSK? That basically does what you said that I highlighted & if the sector/s can be recovered it will using the /f parameter.

Also, where does it say Malwarebytes can find bad sectors?

Don't get me wrong, I no longer support AVG & I definitely love Malwarebytes but you seem to be misinformed about it.

What about those who make Flash games? Sure most of 'em are very basic but a lot of 'em are free & fun to boot.

And what about Codec compilers & the people who made Media Player Classic? Those ARE free & they improve our computers' audio & video capabilities far beyond what was given us out of the box?

And seeing this is an emulation discussion community, what of Emulators huh? These are free & these let us play games. As for the games themselves.... well you got us there as we can not hide the fact that we mostly acquire games through piracy.

Oh & of course the hard work of fan translators, those are free as well & the folk who make 'em do so not to profit as well.

I love how he's all like your freeware is shit, but here's the best antivirus program that no one has heard about, except for him.

Personally i use Nod32 + Malwarebytes + advanced Process tree to hunt down any kind of malware and Viruses Battle network style

 

i always though, the next generation is consist of computer geniuses. the next generation, everyone will know how to fix their own PC because it will be part of core education..

after reading this post, my hope for next generation die a little...

 

Personally,I now use MSE2 and MBAM pro with Windows Firewall.I would grade free AV software as them first,Avira second and Avast third.Ive also had to tune the 2 x programs to work properly in conjunction with each other.

If all else fails, bomb the shit out of virii with ComboFix... unfortunately this thing's not for everyone as it can render your computer unbootable if something goes wrong which is why I first ask for assistance from people from thebleepingcomputer or majorgeeks before I begin nuking.
