Prior to the English civil war, yes. It was this so-called 'divine right of kings' that caused the civil war. Ever since the end of the war, the monarchy has been a powerless figurehead, with parliament having ever increasing power, to the point where they now have far too much and they're entirely uncontrolled and unaccountable. We're now heading towards a repeat of the civil war, with the sides reversed; parliament now being in the wrong.

Some of the old laws are what's protecting us from becoming a nation of slaves subservient to the whim of the EU.

And our "lovable" President claims a Parliamentary form of Governance will suit our country more :p

Thanks for the input loony this really clears things up a bit, she wants our form of governance changed as this will give her the opportunity to stay in power, weak man!

either form of government can work providing there are sufficient checks and balances to keep it under control. Britain is currently ruled by a parliament that could not care less about the best interests of the country, they're career politicians in it for their own bank accounts only. We need to get a government of honest politicians in power, who are not afraid to make uncomfortable decisions in the long term best interests of the country, and who put the country and the citizens before themselves. Then we need to give the monarchy some power back so that they are able to provide a check on parliament's power.

How can there be honor among thieves if the first thing that comes to mind with honor is trustworthiness?

Even Robin Hood took what was not his. How would you feel if someone robbed your house and gave your shit to a group of jobless hobos? I'd be pretty P.O.'d myself.

Well technically after you get robbed, you'll be poor too, so Robin Hood has to give some to you too

Such a funny but good rebutal, you win my man! ;D

And FYI, Robinhood robbed the greedy rich, which were the Aristocrats of Nottingham, not every rich folk who carelessly strolled on through Sherwood forest, I think.

technically robin hood wasn't robbing the rich, he was taking back the money the nobles had taken from the poor in excessively harsh taxes
