Seikon no Qwaser - if you're into abilities + fighting, quite similar to D Gray Man, [If you're abit older then try the uncut version ]
Lucky Star - if you want something relaxed and enjoyable in general
K-ON! - if you're into moe and music [second season comes out this April ]
Ghost Hunt - if you want to scare yourself sh*tless [best in the dark; a decent horror anime]
Last Exile - for the kids with hopes/beliefs theme
Yakitate Japan! - Just about bread; but really fun
InuYasha - demons/half demons, love and power I guess
Death Note - intelligent people ;D
Ouran Host Club - Rich people, randomly enjoyable school theme
Pumpkin Scissors - legendary ex war veteran, kills tanks etc, has a moral to some eps
5centimetres Per Second - very touching and emotional anime [beautiful scenery scenes - although it's more like a movie]
Rozen Maiden - porcelain dolls that are like humans that fight,
Ga Rei Zero - Destroying demons, second family theme
Kuroshitsuji - a butler from hell that can do everything, Elizabeth times? ;S
Special A - Hardworking vs born genius, has pro wrestling, then loveeee
Negima Remake - Spin off of the original Negima; magic, not much fighting
Kanon - psychological anime once you understand it at the end; relationships, animals

The first episode really caught me. Macabre situations and disturbingly enjoyable fates... But then by episode fourteen it was all absurd and misplaced humour.

 

I guess so; it depends on people's taste; that's why I listed a variety for everyone to choose

also, i've seen quite a few non hentai, but really dark and edgy that you'd probably not want to watch, good anime but i cant remember their names.

thats most of my personal collection and barely some that i remember seeing, sorry i cant remember off top of my head.
im pretty oldschool, some of this might be hard to find and often the manga is 10x better
some of these are movies, some are mentioned and Dragon ball movies are the best aside from saiyan saga
marked some with ** that means highly recommended.

Shame on you! You haven't watched Gintama, Slayers, Cyborg 009, Kikaider, HareGuu, Detective Conan, Ranma 1/2, Mushishi, Bacanno! or Durarara!! yet.

And those are just off the top of my head.
But I highly recommend them. When I think of more I'll tell you.
