lol, that was the biological aspect of life......... the christian religion (i am a christian) says that man was made from the dirt.... and well when we die we do go back to the dirt........ which aborbs the nutrients and uses it to make their food and blah blah blah, but what i'm talking about is the spiritual aspect of life.... when we die... wat do our "spirits" do?
I believe that we have none. The only spirit that lives on when we die is whoever remembers us when we die. Eventually that'll die out, just like anything else.
hmmm i seeee thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, but i have to go sleep now.... bye and thanks oh and uhh how old are you?
Yes, it would seem some people do, a long and interesting article about it all. Skip to the Sweet Swarnlata section if you don't feel like reading it all. http://www.reluctant-messenger.com/reincarnation-proof.htm
past memories is bullshit, and any studies that say its real are not done very well. you don't need to be a master of knowledge to understand the psychology behind it that it is the subjective nature of the hypnotist or whatever and the willing mind of a fool. i've had people tell me that they can sense i was a great warrior in a past life playing right in to what i want to hear but its all crap and anyone with half a brain cell would realize that. not to mention that your talking about heaven and hell so to believe in that means you can't believe in past lives because the soul in question would be in either heaven or hell but then again i will say it again there is no hell even if your a christian there is no such mention of it anywhere (Hebrew text).
I agree with you up to a point, firstly if you read the article you will see why the sutdies mentioned are not so easy to dismiss, very little of what is in the article has anything to do with hypnosis. Also, you mention psychology, both Jung and R. D. Lang where convinced in the reality of re-incarnation without resorting to hypnosis, so I wonder what type of psychology you refer to? Quoted for the truth, there is no mention of hell and indeed no concept of hell in early versions of the Christian bible.
The earliest Christian text where written in Greek. There is no mention or concept of hell in them. If you go back before these texts then there was no Christianity. Of course other religions do mention ideas that describe various after death events that could be interpreted as hell-like. But it is clear that within Christianity the concept of hell is a later inclusion. Most religions have a concept of the soul but no concept of hell, the majority of people believe in religions that do not have hell, i.e. Buddhists, Hindus, ect. Belief in hell is quite unusual when you take account of the vast number of religions in the world.
thats true yea, but maybe somewhere along the line those texts were misinterpreted..... and well what im saying is that if you do believe in souls, then there must be somewhere your soul goes to when you die right??
@1prinnydood i didn't read that article you posted i might but i find the whole past life thing to be rubbish although more plausible then heaven and hell so i may give it read later to see what they say. i'm guessing where ever you go to church they like preaching about hell as it seem so ingrained in to your belief, you should really go and study your religion. you will most likely find that nearly everything you thought you knew about is not correct. well there are many different beliefs within christianity but many of the christian scholars believe hell nor heaven exists but instead when you die everyone is in the presence of god for eternity and depending on how you are judged you either feel eternal bliss or a hell like experience.
Pure gold from the Prinnster (can I call you that 1prinnydude). I checked out the article, it was a good read. I am still very skeptical about past lives but must admit it was a very compelling article/arguement and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. As an aside, have you read the comic series The Invisibles by Grant Morrisson? I think it would be right up your alley.

There should be a [FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD] tag added to this debate. And I mean for fuck's sakes, we already had around 5 topics on belief in God/ creation/ evolution. OF COURSE, the people who don't believe in god in the first place won't believe in hell. And even then, people who do are divided whether hell exists or not. So, rather than have a "debate" where all atheists claim "I don't believe in god (=fairy tale) and therefore I don't believe in hell/heaven (=fairy tale)", let's TRY to make this interesting -.-
