When it gets to the point of him being near death, he'll go to an Emergency room, they will fix him up as much as needed for him to live, then the bill will be sent to him, he won't pay it then either (assuming he doesn't get wealthy in the next couple years) and the hospital will eat the bill, paying it off with donated cash and government money.

    That.

There is a lot of misinformation and twisting of terms about HCR. The idea is to make large consumer pools, to give them the leverage and buying power that large companies have in buying insurance for their employees. There will also be federal subsidies to help you purchase insurance. If you still can't afford it, you can get an exemption. The "fines" are actually levied in the form of a tax credit that you *won't* qualify for if you *choose* not to purchase insurance, despite your ability to do so. They won't actually send you a bill or throw you in jail, as some have said.

I'm so sad about the way things are going here right now. I love my country, and especially my city (Seattle) but I have been trying to talk Mr. Bunny into possibly going ex-pat, to Canada or maybe even France. Watch Michael Moore's 'Sicko' and you'll know why. :(

He could go to ER now but he doesnt want to because it would be done by a dentist and not under general anaesthetic, and he doesn't believe he'd survive the process carried out like that. the price given is for an oral surgeon and a general anaesthetic

You're still under the misconception that anything branded as communist is communist. Leninism is based off the Marxist idea of a proletariat dictatorship, which even at best is merely a socialist stepping stone to pure communism.

I had a rash the other day...maybe i can go to the doctor? :p
I am totally for it, but they must build a big 900000 acre facility in order to give Americans free or affordable healthcare.
Sure some diseases can be detected early on through small health issues, but people with minor things such as rashes will go to the doctor, and just create a line.
I personnaly believe the government should pay for it.
But, all the gov. thinks about is money, not the people.
Most needed resources (for vaccines and stuff) can be reproduced easily...if the gov. has a heart and gives people money.

Health Care Reform would depend on the population let's say that you could compare the nations of Britain to United States...

No wonder Britain could afford it, for it has fewer people. Their NHS gives it close by whereas the United States has to worry about its other neighboring states across the country. Government will only enter the fray when an epidemic happens, such as the swine flu, malaria, or some kind of virus. Except that it does not interfere with the public-private-business-owned-corporations and tell those businesses to at least give the people a chance to afford insurance.

Also, Healthcare is divided up evenly among the welfare system, which the rest of the people have to pay for in order to get it where its needed. This ties in with the economic forms of government, because the funds required are nothing but stimulus. The U.S. is basically trying to support itself right now with a broken leg with little money. Oooowww the injury we Americans have inflicted upon ourselves...the agony...the sorrow...the shame...

We are taxed far higher than anything americans can imagine. Plus, bigger population == more tax revenues. Average job in the UK earns 30-50% less than the equivalent job in the US, and living costs are much higher in the UK. US might be made up of multiple states but the UK is made up of 4 different countries.

I see the difference now. Hard to imagine how you people could keep up with it. I offer you my condolences.
