I just remembered, not necessarily anime, but manga

The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, it's about a bunch of Buddhists students going around Japan to take dead's people last requests
there is a lot of blood and decomposing bodies, which is perfect for Halloween I guess

Anime, manga fine by me but unfortunately It's almost halloween, and I haven't even begun one of your recommendations (sorry) I guess I'm stuck watching the Pumpkin Tree for the Upteenth Bazillion time.

Vampire Hunter D is a classic horror type anime he may enjoy, and blood the last vampire.

 

"Elfen lied" for the gore factor/rather unique individuals (anime or manga).

As someone said earlier "Highschool of the dead" is a brilliant horror manga, to bad the releases are so slow.

"Eden no Ori" is another horror type manga, rather good but once again slow releases.

"Love Monster" although it's a romance type manga it is full of monsters atleast.

 

One Piece and Luffy's arms artistic fail? Oh man, so wrong. Oda chose his style. Many details reveal that he can do 'proper anime-esque' art. His unique style is why I adore OP. It's funky, it's different. And it's fun. Though I can understand your opinion if you only base it on early episodes of the anime, because stylewise they suck.

As for to the topic: if you enjoy psychological horror/suspense, go for Monster. The title is a cliche, but trust me, there is more to it than it gives out. Very deep series, though the steady athmosphere build-up might bore the most impatient ones before the series really gets started.

But for a good bloodpath and gore, go for Hellsing. It's awesome.

 

Well, even i've seen those two, can't wait for the live action Blood movie though, this tuesday on DVD Yaaay!
