Here we go again iamlegend ;D

Sankyuu isn't a racial slur, it is in fact the Japanese coinage of the english "thank you", though they have "Arigatou" for that. Sankyuu is what a Japanese person would say to a non Japanese speaking westerner when they converse & the Japanese speaker needs to thank the other. They don't have the "th" sound in their language so they use the next alternative, the "s" sound.

And yes, some Japanese say "herro" when they greet each other out on the street, BUT NOT on the phone, they have "Moshi moshi" or the more recent "Mosh Mosh" variant.

Sankyuu & herro are most frequently used by the younger Japanese crowd than others as well as Anime fanboys like Prophet is, no offense intended.

Incorrect. If it were "sankyou", then it would be pronounced with the same sound as "arigatou". Vowels in Japanese sound the same, no exceptions. English is actually one of the harder languages to learn because of all its exceptions.

What do you mean by that Carlos?

    Er...no...
Japanese people don't say herro and sankyuu to each other...
(apart from maybe the weird ones)
They may say "Thank You" and "Hello" to foreigners...

But Sankyuu and Herro...ARE NOT WORDS
They're just what a silly westerner would hear if a Japanese person
was to try and speak English to them...

Sankyuu is insulting even to me...
So God help you if you say it to a Japanese person

And as for "mosh mosh"....it doesn't exist
It's just what you hear in casual speech...
They are still actually saying "moshi moshi"
If they were going to shorten it...they would do it according to the rules
of the Japanese phonetic system, and hence "mosh mosh" is not possible...

This isn't where this should be discussed since it's an introduction thread but anyway.

Let me rephrase, yes they're not words, they're spoken phrases used by the younger Otaku crowd. So your post above is justified. They're not used in formal or in written form.
