Could it be that Christianity is the dominant religion in the United States, the heaviest influence in most government elections, the reason why the courts of America aren't doing their jobs and instead are debating whether to add 'intelligent design' to the school curriculum or put the --fake-- 10 commandments up in front of government buildings? Yeah, probably.

Buddhists aren't too hard to fight against. As an Asian, I grew up automatically integrated with Buddhists, but over time, I figured that Buddhism is a philosophy rather than a religion. They state that you are allowed to follow whatever religion you choose in your life, but you first must give up your bonds with possessions on earth before you can go to their version of heaven, aka. Nirvana (not the band).

In the Buddhist's own scriptures, Buddha himself stated to his followers not to believe him as a religion because that was not his purpose......... then the stupid bastards turned his words into a religion. Ugh...

Muslims is a more tricky situation. Basically, they are the Christians, but in modern times. Essentially, if you are a fundamentalist, you stone people to death, you take away freedoms from women outside the house, you blah blah blah. Just take the older Christian sins and add them to our time. That is probably what struck such disgust for us Americans when we saw what the Muslims were doing... they were lost in time... and they looked so familiar to our history... something we want to make go away.

But, I suspect a majority of people who debate whether God is real or not on these forums are either Christian, Catholic, or in some sect of the these two (despite the fact that they are nearly identical with the exception that Christians are lazier).

I have no respect towards any religion, no matter what it is. I just think it's an easy excuse for the weak at this day and age... similar to marijuana, addictions, alchohol, and smoking.

So what I'm saying is I follow no religion and my life has not been meaningless, boring, without morals or whatever bullshit assumptions someone can 'think' of.

Oh, and as a Game Art and Designer, I think the Church of the Jedi still pwns Church of Gaming. Jedi powers vs game controllers? Please.

Modified: Oh, and just to be as direct as possible: Christians (and the whole spectrum of different sects) ran away from a country to another country just to escape religious persecution. Immediately after, they began to religiously persectute others. Why? Because religion demands it, their god demanded it, and they knew it.

Maybe that might encourage your allegedly christian government to actually follow them? 'thou shalt not kill', 'love thy neighbour as thyself', 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's', 'thou shalt not steal' and 'thou shalt not bear false witness' all seem to have been conveniently ignored by the US government and president.

Exodus 20:2-17 contains the familiar 10 commandments everyone --claims-- to know.

However, that was before Moses got angry when he came back down the mountain and saw the people worshipping a calf statue. In his anger, he threw the tablets (FROM GOD) onto the floor (Exodus 32:19)

He then returns to get more tablets, then everything turns differently. Suddenly, these new tablets were now refered to as the "Ten Commandments" (Exodus 34:28). These rules happened to be drastically different than the first tablets... which means either God changed his mind (not too impossible considering the New Testament was created), or Moses is a great ad-libber.

Here are the real commandments listed in Exodus 34:13-28:

    I. Thou shalt worship no other god.
II. Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
III.. The feast of unleavened bread thou shalt keep
IV. Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest.
    V. Thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of
    ingathering at the year's end.
VI. Thrice In the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord God.
VII. Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven.
VIII. Neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
IX. The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God.
    X. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

There. Sucks to be the guy who works seven days a week... in trying to support his family, he can now look forward to being stoned to death... probably by the same stone tablets that Christians wants in front of the government building.

    Lol, that made me laugh.

    For kicks though:

Why would God tell that one, only to drastically change his mind?
Why wouldn't Mr. I-throw-God's-words-on-floor be punished for this action of destroying the original words?
What if neither version were God's words and Moses was just a massive asshole playing a trick on incredibly stupid people who would worship a cow?

LOL, one of the reason i dont belive in god is because of statment like this, "Thou shalt worship no other god" make god sounded like a dictator...and IF god is real and he or she is almighty, then all religion should point toward the same god, since god is differ in each religion (some fo them even have multiple gods\goddess) that give the doubt of the existance of god......

Well, all religions are under fear of God... look at Islam, it's translation is seclusion, hindu believes God is everywhere, Buddhists believe they will not go to nirvana for bad deeds...

Well, Athiests on the other hand, they are free to live life without the influence of gods, but they also resort to the indisciplinary habits that having a religion implies, like your hard headedness to keep on defending everything, and you won't stop, who knows you might have converted a child, you might have angered a parent, and on the other hand, you may have angered someone...

I don't agree with attacking anything, it's jsut not my idea, but based on this arguement, the inability to pursue such kindness within words will take the best of you, taking the harder way, instead of just accepting things the way they are.

Anyways, you can't be a lawyer...ever, it's stated in the ruled of court, you can't be a smart alec, it's annoying, and it will penalize you for pointing out the slightest details not related to the case, which you ahve been doing this whole time in this thread

I agree with you 100% with everything you said here exept for "God isn't even a theory... it's technically a hypothesis". if you believe that "God" is only a Hypothesis then how can you explain to me you exist? you cannot be saying to me that you believe that all forms of life was created by a Little atom in space that went "Pop".

This is believable as saying that the game Need for Speed is actuly a Soccer game and peaple are dressed as cars for the fun of it?

Thats like saing that our ancesters were little atoms in space.

Now, how just think about this. Earth is Realy Realy Realy huge. there are millions, Fill-ions, Ka-Drill-ions of Planets Bigger than Earth so the universe MUST be Exremly large. there MUST be other life froms somewere around in space.

i beleive in god, but i dont believe in the teachings. i believe in good and right. its all common sence. also the teachings of all religions tell you the same thing that you would normaly think like. dont steal from others, dont lie, etc. its all common sence.

I give you respect for this still. and u Ulta :D
