    In bed? No doubt. :p

    ... erm...
    Wheat - 42 chromosomes
    Humans - 46 chromosomes
    Hare - 46 chromosomes
    Potato - 48 chromosomes
Monkeys and such - 48 chromosomes
    Tobacco - 48 chromosomes

    Conclusion: Irrelevant.

How the hell would a scientist draw conclusions like that? AND ALL DINOSAURS WERE GREEN. Damn, scientists assume far too much.

Not entirely correct, sir. Documents have been found that provide us with enough evidence that there was a 'religious figure' named Jesus, who had many followers, and was gradually obtaining holy status. Whether or not he had those oh-so magical powers or not is the debate at hand, and I'd have to say it's unlikely, but he must have been quite the deceiver to get all of his followers. :p

    God Apologizes for the incovenience
Not that he exists, well he might, but who knows.
    How can you tell?
If, as you say, it is down to belief, whyis it down to belief, how can someone believe in something if there is nothing to sow it is there.
You say it is in the Bible, but a timetraveler is in Timesplitters and hes not real zombies are in Resident Evil and they not real.
The bible could have been as made up as anything else.
Oh and in response to Ultima, our purpose is to find as many questions as possible that fit the answer '42'
    :)
    Thank you and goodnight.
    I will leave till monday.

It's very interesting to find this discussion, when i was just bitching about this same thing. i live in florida, and a group of crazy moms is currently trying to pass a bill to change any and all talks about evolution, to philosophy classes, instead of in science, also, there is to be no mention of "Evolution" It is to be only refered to as "The theory of evolution". Her reasoning is, and i quote "There just isn't any proof that we evolved from anything, there is not a single fossil found showing any form of change". She later mentions that "The theory of evolution" is interfering with the raising of her sons as "Good,Wholesome Christian boys".

I personally think that there is more proof to the theory of evolution, more things then can be faked, or miscontrude, then there is to prove that god exists.

On evolutions side, we have actuall animals that show varying difference in structure, size, shape, and functions, but all from the same species.

On Gods side...we have a book...

On evolutions side, we have DNA maps, showing gradual change over millions of years.

On gods side we have a book.

On evolutions side, we have millions of fossils, dating back billions of years.

On gods side we have a book. A book that could have just as easily been written somewhere so that kids would listen to there parents, and do good in life. Then, after someone did that, they went around and told everyone else about how "God" gave this book to us to show us how to be good.

    ...i'm ranting...

Any way, i just think that if all you have to prove your side is a really big book, most of which is "And He, who was begotten from (insert name) and (insert name), whom later begot (insert name) and (insert name)" for over 600 pages, and "Faith" then i think you should at the very listen to the other side. i hate how the only response i can get for asking these questions, and stating the actual facts, is "Well whatever, you are going to hell anyway"

I agree, and that mother should be laughed at. Religion is a bad thing because people take it too far (see above for a relatively minor example) Assuming for one moment that the Christian God is real etc (He isn't as far as I'm concerned) then the Christian Bible is hardly His word, it has been translated and rewritten that many times that it would bear no resemblance to the original whatsoever. We know that back in the days when the average person could not read, priests and monks changed the meaning of the bible to suit their own purposes, because no-one would be any the wiser.

As a further example of why the bible should not be trusted, consider this: all the traditional hymns sung at English churches have been re-written to remove any references to war, fighting, violence etc. Thus, 'Onward, Christian Soldiers' has become 'Onward, Christian Pilgrims'. If the church gives in to the Politically Correct brigade just like that, then how many other times throughout history has it been manipulated by outside agencies?

    For Void:

Chromosomes is not counted... it's matched. Monkeys and humans share identical chromosomes up until the last two. Now since it was proven that humans have a chromosome that the monkeys have that ended up fusing together, it means that humans and monkeys share identical chromosomes until a point where some type of mutation/alteration/selective breeding occured that created a fusion. This ends up with why we became the way we became... (appearance and brain power) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs1zeWWIm5M

All dinosaurs are not green... that was actually interpretations by artists... not scientists... Scientists only think it's the colors are similar to lizards of present day, only more fitted to the environment of their time... which could be anything really... grey, purple, ect... they don't have enough evidence to say anything specific, but you don't seem to care... you just want to blame science for SOMETHING, so you grab at straws...

Damn, ignorant people assume too much and don't do a damn thing to learn from it. Scientists make assumtions and expect people to question it constantly.

Oh, and there are plenty of other 'messiahs' in the time of Jesus.

Apollonius of Tyana is one of the more well known examples of a Jesus like figure. Google if you just don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

He was also a man that could walk on water, pass through walls, cure the sick (anyone he happens to see, mind you), and die and resurrect.

Yes, there was factual evidence of some guy named Jesus, but there were also dozens of other messiahs with nearly identical powers and nearly identical stories. Mind telling who was the real 'god' here?

People of those times didn't need too much evidence to believe. As evidence, I point to the world being flat, the sun rotating around the earth, rain coming from god, your neighbor being a witch, and a variety of ways to solve social problems (like amputation for example):

If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. - Matthew 18:7-9

Your logic is pretty similar to those of ancient times... seriously... no extra thought, plenty of assumptions with no evidence, and jumping to conclusions immediately because you just don't really know and feel insecure with your own answer. Why the last one? Because you seem to like to insult the other arguments rather than defend your own.

Witches came much, much later. As did amputation as a medical technique, although it was certainly used as a punishment in the middle ages.

Of course, though I was simply using it as examples that humans are gullible at all times... similar to how someone can ignore all the facts in today's age.

Obviously your irritation towards this subject has been tunneled towards this disgust aimed at me. I'll try my best to address your points, as you assume I am incapable of doing.

To reply to your comment of chromosomes: I'll take your word for truth, as you seem quite confident in those specifics. My original post did not argue otherwise, but instead insisted that comparing the numbers of chromosomes found in organisms as to compare evolution between them was nothing short of pointless, and that the number of chromosomes is irrelevant, which is, for the most part, truth.

I won't reply specifically to the dinosaur paragraph, I didn't intend for anyone to dig deep and point fingers at whoever decided to label dinosaurs as green, it was meant as humour and nothing else.

Of course people challenge the ideas of scientists. Scientists aren't always correct, they're only human, and discoveries are constantly created and overturned by the general public. That aside, I'm not sure what you're stating in the provided two sentences.

I'd like to defend myself when you say that I've made complete assumptions. Please note that my post starts with a joking remark, followed by a list of statistics, a dinosaur comment, and a generally well-known (and you've agreed in this post) idea that Jesus was indeed a known man of the time and was regarded by many as the son of God. I see no assumptions here (and I know Loony's grandmother is phenomenal. Sorry Loony. <3).

I'd also like to defend myself against your remark, being "Because you seem to like to insult the other arguments rather than defend your own." I wasn't enforcing any type or argument that I had wished to create in my post. Again, you may refer to the above of a general summary of my post. The only times I "insulted other arguments" was when I pointed at cloudboy's irrelevancy with statistics (note: not assumption!) and when I extended upon your ideas of Jesus (which I, in fact, do agree with).

I meant no harm, and don't believe I created any. I hope this clears things up.

If that was the point, then I apologize for misinterpreting your text. It's difficult to read humor through text unless it's obvious or unintentional.

I won't, however, take back all the things I've posted. There are some information in my post that can turn the gears in the brain enough to prevent stupidity, so I'll keep it as is.

Very nice professionalism btw. Despite that I know as a fact that chromosomes aren't irrelevant in any way, I can honestly say that once I look over what you said, it was rather mentally provoking, so it's pretty good, lol.

That theory isn't about the Universe, that's how some believe the Earth was created. I personally think everything has been here forever, slowly developing into what it is today.

We're on topic as need be, in my opinion. If we're not discussing the matter at hand through exploration, there's no real point in constant replies insisting "yes" and "no." The obvious "other side" to the matter would be comparison and contradiction through evolution, so I believe the conversation is still quite relevant, give or take the last few posts for clarity purposes.

You simply can't say "does god exist" for one thing, there's no prof, and the only thing people have to defend ageist that is faith. It's all a matter of how a certain person believes in life and what is going to happen in the after life, so no matter what is said, people are going to continue to argue left and right because everyone has their own opinion on the matter. It's just going to keep going around and around, this subject will never end until there is undeniable prof that there is a greater being from us.

It's truly never a good idea to debate about Faith, you never know who your going to offend or how much your words about the topic actually mean to people.

Yeach, I totally agree with this...some people considerit a blasphamy :-\ and you can get sued for that, under the topic of racsm, promoting discrimination towars religions, and other things :-\

Lawsuits against words usually revolve around slander and harassment... if you state your opinion and someone gets offended, technically, that person who said it is protected under freedom of speech.

Why else would the KKK be allowed to speak in public, or how a we can proclaim ourselves to be athiest, agnostic, christian, or otherwise.

Speaking of harassment, how do you guys feel about Christians and em going into other third-world countries to convert people or even trying to convert people in this country? Freedom of Religion and speech allows them to do such thing unstopped, but isn't it a total violation of non-christian freedoms to be asked this over and over again?

How many different gods are there and how horrible would the world be if each one of their followers decided to do what Christians/Catholics/Witnesses do to non-believers?

Oh, and god does exist... it's a fairly recognizable symbol of a majority of religions and its' a common source of faith and a common excuse for doing horrible atrocities to our fellow life livers. Obviously 'god' exists. Now, whether it's some horrible man-thing that watches as we live, sleep, eat, poop, shower, and masturbate, or some dude with infinite power to cause mass exterminations of everyone on earth or ignore all the starving and dieing babies of the world, that is a different thing to prove.
