If we get power-armor-clad space marines out of the old gene-tinkering i'm all for it.

But, on a more serious note. It's inevitable, but still it's a mistake. Removing from or adding to the human genome could have catastrophic effects further on down the line when it's no longer possible for us to reverse it or not possible for us to fix it.

 

Well breeding would cause problems, specifically if it effects the chromosomes...

I may very well be the progenitor of therapeutic cyber-prosthesis. That may be true, I may also be the man whom comes up with a contingency plan for meteors. I know I'm going to push mechanical muscles along and it's going to be an absolute breakthrough. It'll look and move just like your appendage. It'll make anything out there today look like crap! I'll use the same basic technology to make something else to specifically revolutionize combat, making high allied casualty counts a thing of the past.

An arm like Iron man's but actually has to be attached like a prosthetic limb
Well I don't like the sound of having a part cut off and being replaced espescially if it's expensive and hard to fix...

 

Noo! En-oh! No! If you lose that part: As in, You're in a crash, and your arm is crush-ehd or ripped off or whatever; You are in the hospital, without said arm, recovering. A doctor comes and talks to you about what happened, to the best of his/her ability; and they start talking about prosthetics. Then, after a short discussion, the doctor tells you that there is a robotics program ran and funded, and all you'd have to do is experience a phantom limb like state. The arm itself cannot feel anything, but it moves just like your arm. Maybe better. Now how about that? War amputees? Pshaw... Diseased body? Try to keep the brain. Eventually, even the brain will be able to be transferred to a computer part of some kind one day. But I'm not entirely sure how the stomach will work. I hope I'm still alive when they can make nano-machines. But that's the basic idea. Besides, I'm trying to keep the design as minimalist and simple as possible.

Unless it's black hole universe, about to experience critical mass/big bang, then it would be deadly beautiful, wouldn't it?
