Whatever you do don't get a game that is shovelware like cory in the house just because your kid likes the show.

A lot of games based on tv shows are crap. Especially if it's from Disney. All hail the shovelware king.

Get the kid a crap computer from 10 years ago and download Put-put and Math Blaster. That will change his life. Holy damn.

There are 2 Go! Diego Go! games out there, I would try them. Also, we like Dora saves the Snow Princess. (It's not too girly & the kid gets to yell at the DS "MAP! MAP!") We also like Peppa Pig. ;-)

No way. N+ is far too difficult for a 5 year old (on the later stages anyway).

My sister (7) loves warioware: touched, Super Princess peach, Mario hoops 3-on-3, mario kart, and when the parents aren't around, Halo 1-3. She's not too bad with a battle rifle. I'm so proud.

Just make sure you supervise her when playing violent games, otherwise games like that might mess up her innocent little mind.

Actually my first game was Pokemon Red, so if kids are as clever as kids were 10 years ago, I highly recommend it.

My first game was tetris for the gameboy pocket. Back in my day we didn't have any of these new-fangled graphics and quality. We had a tiny slider on the bottom that adjusted contrast, and if you were so inclined, you could crank it either way for extra difficulty. Get the kid tetris, and he'll grow up appreciating games like me.

So you got the First Gameboy combo pack with the Tetris gamepak included, nice :D

Yeah, Grandma used to send awesome gifts. A couple years later she got me a N64 with Banjo Tooie. Now she just sends me crappy t-shirts

Cakemania might be difficult for a five year old kid, in the latter stages you've got to have fast reflexes & very good hand-eye coordination as the cake orders get plenty & the time interval is at crunch time. Cooking mama, I think might work, but still has some explanations that kids might find tedious as kids needs something with more gameplay aspects than dealing with understanding how things work.

My sister loves cooking mama, but still gets pissed during the "Oven Timer" parts and hands me the game to do it for her.

Try count 10 that may be easy and fun for him (and gives him education)
