But... What if it IS real? You earn yourself... whatever "Live Gold" is, is that the currency for xBox live? By doing absolutely nothing :

Gold is the premium account level that works just like P2P(PayToPlay) games. 50$ a year and you get to go online with any games that support it to play with your friends and random people throwing a tantrum on FPS games.
XBLA uses a point system, confusing and unnecessary since you either have to look at a card or remember the conversion by memory.
