I know a couple of ways ya could possibly improve this..add the super 1/1i, and put it under fine (they're well known, and good carts, but not the best ;P)
And also, If ya use Wood R4 with the original R4, it's actually on-par with the AK2i (just no DSi support;P)

Or if you are on a really tight budget (and don't have a DSi) then the original R4 from ShopTemp.

yeah then use wood for ds

ok if your on a really tight budget get a r4 original and install wood
if your on a tight budget buy a acekard 2i
and if your not on a budget or have the money buy a dstwo super card :)

I'll consider adding the Supercards if anybody gets really curious about it. As it stands, it just doesn't feel important enough to spend time on.

I'll consider the budget section eventually. Really, it is just a matter of looking at the prices and making a decision in the end.

I'm from Australian too and looking at getting the same flash cart perhaps. Curious as to where reliable places are to get them from off the internet and prices too?

    www.shoptemp.com is great.

People like www.realhotstuff.com, they also like www.lightake.com. I can't say on prices.

whoops i do apologize that this question doesn't help with your guide, by the way the guide's really good. but i ask you this question because you do seem like you get access to a wide-range of flashcards from people.

but when you do answer these questions are you experienced with knowledge of wide-range of flashcards and have you actually experienced Supercard DSTWO and Acekard 2i for yourself?

    which flashcard is best for:
    • music videos, music and games to running smoothly (and the system as a whole)
    • and won't worsen or isn't bad the DSI XL system?

i don't care for gba games, i'm not on a tight budget but I do need to make a cautious decision to which is the best under the conditions above.

I go back and forth between acekard 2i and supercard dstwo but if you do have any other suggestions then please do, possibly iPlayer?

In my personal experience, the DSTWO is king.
    i own a fake ak2i, a real ak2i, an r4i fifa and a DSTWO.

the dstwo was able to play korg which none of my other cards could run
the dstwo ran metal slug 7 with the least slow down out of all the cards (the little slowdown that WAS there i blame on my memory stick)

Music and music videos i havent used much- so i wont comment on which is better- but DPGs ran flawlessly even on my fake ak2i, so i doubt there would be any problem in the other cards, especially the dstwo.

I have never actually experienced these carts, but have been through these forums enough to basically feel like I have. One cart can only differ from another by so much.

To start, no flash cart is bad for any DS system except for the N5 due to the fact that it actually can blow a fuse in normal DS's and DSlites and make the system useless. That is the only cart with the potential to do this though in existence.

Now, for multimedia, the Supercard DSTwo boasts:

"Advanced multimedia playback: native DivX/XviD playback as well as other major formats, similar to the iPlayer."

Now, I can't verify this, as most that buy this cart don't buy it for it's multimedia capabilities, but there is a solid homebrew out there that can play videos with just a tiny bit of work. The Moonshell homebrew supports many different music files, and supports DPG videos. There are a few ways to convert videos into DPG format, so that is a very minor setback.

Overall, if you just want a music player, I would get an Acekard2i and just use Moonshell. If you don't want to go through the extra work with videos, I would suggest making a separate topic so that somebody who uses their Supercard DSTwo for its multimedia functions can tell you for sure how well it supports different video and music types.

Hope this helps you out some.

    thanks :D

thanks just that when supercard dstwo holders insert the card in, it's a bit tough or did the manufacturers fix that now? yeah and its a bit worrying that it might ruin the cartridge inserting place. oh and i hear that the supercard dstwo wastes a lot of the battery.

Hi, I have been reading the posts, and they are very informative, but I am still confused as to what to get :-\ I recently bought 3 DSL's for my kids for Christmas, and would like to get a flash cart for each to put games on. One of the DSL's I bought off Ebay, came with a R4i w/ 50 games loaded on it, and they are great, and all work. I found a website where I can get a game card loaded with up to 366 games for about $35US.Here are some things I've been looking at http://www.goldenbridge.hk/category-318-b0.html or http://www.goldenbridge.hk/goods-3727.html I am not sure if I should get this, as there are plenty of games to keep each kid busy. Or if I should buy a flash cart & download the games myself? I am not familiar with the process of how to download games and where to get them at, this would be what is stopping me from just purchasing a flash cart. If I knew how to go about the process & websites, I could do it. I am just not sure what to to. I know it will take time to get to me, as I live in the US, so I need to order something soon so it will be here in time for Christmas. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! TIA
