No problem to me though when saving.
Can you provide us more details about it?

I go to do the ingame save and it says "sayving a lot of data (or whatever)" snd then it just doesn't do anything.

And the little thing in the corner thats meant to be spinning around when you save isn't moving.

Make sure you're using 'Auto' on NDS Cartridge Backup Media.

Care to read my post again?
I mentioned having a rather high end cpu and gpu :|

Please wait for a patch/fix rather than posting the same problem like other people has mentioned.

    @Shuvo : Really? maybe I missed it.
DesMume runs at the normal speeds for me, and I didn't have a high end pc.
Maybe there are some settings that you had messed up with.

I've gotten HeartGold to work on No$GBA 2.6a with a clean (unencrypted) rom by just using the "Black Screen Fix" code. I've gotten past the first gym with no freezes yet. (Granted, I am saving every chance I get just in case).

Ok, basically I played on Soul Silver with a few freezes now and then, but I saved frequently so it wasn't a problem.
However, after I defeated the 3rd gym, my ROM crashes right when my save completes -- takes the save along with it.
^ 1. I was playing Soul Silver with the Action Replay codes on.
    2. I was using Flash 512 kb as my NDS Cartridge Backup Media.
    3. GBA Cartridge Backup Media set on "Auto".
    4. Was NOT using No$Zoomer.

This time I'm going to try Heart Gold on No$Zoomer with the same emulator settings.
It was reported that freezes and crashes often occur after the 4th gym...
Will these settings take me farther than that in the game, or will I end up just like them?

If I'm missing any other recommended settings or steps I should take, please reply!

P.S. I really appreciate those who are trying their best to help n00bs like me! Romulation is a great community!

    Thanks in advance!

For all emulator users I Recommend use DeSmuME , because it has save state feature , so useful for avoid start over if freezing
I'm using DeSmuME 0.9.4 x86 , still freeze though , but I'm now at 7th gym because save state feature save me.
To use save state choose file->save state->choose slot , if SS/HG freeze after save state, use load state then save your game from game menu, and reset your rom and load from game menu, it should be okay,Just my opinion, hope this helps :)
    nb:DeSmuME slower than No$

    Thanks Gamma!

Good advice, and I'm glad you recommended it to me!
Also, thanks for the step by step mini tutorial :)

I'm going to try it out right now!

Those people having trouble saving with the Heart Gold Fix code.
I recommend using the Soul Silver fix code. Works perfectly

Maybe this was due to a crash that could have corrupted the file, but i doubt that highly...

When I open the HG rom I played previously, it just pops a window that reads "NO$GBA - FATAL", then says that "pokemon HG.SAV".

The save file is in place, but NO$gba will not respond untill it throws that window out. What is that problem?

@kirbichu : If you still haven't know this,
After you have saved the game, quit the emulator and then run it again.

@Shuvo : Try redownload the Desmume.

@sherlock : Use no$zoomer, and change the NDS Cartridge Backup Media to Auto.
The game will still crash though, just make sure to save often.

@ Tencros : Have you extracted the rom?

@ koukisthebest : No, Romulation only provide Rom, not game fixes.
    Just be patient. :)

Thank you Meganova for your insight!
However, my NDS Cartridge Backup Media does not have an "Auto" under the list! I presume that you are referring to the GBA Cartridge Backup Media!

I'll be sure to use no$zoomer!
In the menu bar, there is a tab for "Other". Should I set the Extra to 0 or 5?
I'm also going to use the Heart Gold (U) (Xenophobia).

Even though the game will still crash, is it possible to make it through the game?
I save very frequently and I always exit my emulator so that it saves properly...

Thank your for your support Meganova! I'm very grateful :).

P.S. Could someone reply if they made it past the fourth gym with No$GBA/No$Zoomer? I really appreciate all of your expertise and patience!

You're using the previous version of No$gba, which doesn't have an 'Auto' option.
    Download the latest one, 2.6a.
    http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=1462.0

No need to change any settings for the EXTRA option.
    The game doesn't need it.

I'm not sure if this is working to other people, but, changing
the Emulation speeds on no$gba to Realtime*2 Auto can run the game longer before it freeze.

Thank you for your help Mega!
    I tried theRealtime*2 Auto, it's pretty funny ;P

Speeds up everything (sound, walking, graphics)!
