    I agree/guess so.

    But using the FF name is just branding taking advantage of consumers.

    Not really, it's just letting you know what to expect, you don't like ff, so you won't buy one. If they suddenly released ff14 as Firestorm Rebellion or something, you might buy it, then you'd have bought a game you'd professed a hatred for. Unless of course it's just the name you have a problem with, in which case that'd be rather sad.
