I only played one Final Fantasy, X. As i couldn't skip the videos, and they were too long, I gave up. :p

I'll maybe give VII a try someday.

I'm of those people who reckon that VII is highly overrated and IX highly underrated. Although I did find out today that IX has a higher score on both Metacritic and Gamerankings, when I was trying to decide what to put on my PSP. Which cheered me.

Have to say though, my favourite ones are I & V. With VI coming up close. And then X. Maybe I just like the so-called 'challenge'. It's not hard though, not if you know what you're doing. Maybe all the people who think they're hard just lack any sort of strategy, except for 'kill it with big swords' ;)

XII was alright, it wasn't amazing but I've not really given it a proper shot as I've had much other stuff to play, so maybe it'll draw me in when I get back to it.

And I probably could go on all day about Final Fantasy so I'll draw this post to a close for now. Maybe I'll post again with more crap later.

exactly why seasoned players don't find it hard while younglings of that time whined about it being hard XD well I finished it in an emulator for the frame skip option... I love that feature for RPGs

i would say that so far, my favourite is FF7
only because it was one of the first games i got when i was younger on my PSX
and it brings back great memories

also my favourite character, would have to be Squall From FF8
screw this emo nonsense, its a useless term anyway.

FF10 pissed me off, i did not like the Leveling up system at all.

FF7's equip system was pretty cool
but FF8's was the best in my opinion.

playing FF3 on DS at the moment, enjoying it alot :)
think i will make a run through all the games after i finish FF3.

I'm starting to get sick of VII, it's like Square Enix is milking that thing dry...

    Just like FFCC

well there are alot of FF7 fans out there
Square Enix will never be able to satisfy them though
I'm one of those people I just want more FF7

its like one of those movies where you watch it to the end and you wish it just keeps on going.

Can't wait untill I start my little adventure of playing the entire FF series, start to finish
except FF11, played it when it first came out wasnt to impressed.

for me ff7 was pretty damn sweet, it was the game that made me an rpg fan, from ff7 I went back to secret of mana and evermore, illusion of time, and plenty of other snes classics, and from those I went on to other greats on the psx, but its ff7 that started it all for me and the one that holds the fondest memories.

Yuna isn't the first female main character in a ff game.
    remember Terra in ff6.

    to the topic
    here is my ff ranking:
ff7 is my favorit (great story and gameplay, but german translation is too fuzzy)
then ff10 (awesome graphics, I wanted back the world map :'()
ff8 (better graphics than ff7, fighting system basicly stayed, but I hated the leveling system)
ff6 (many characters, many espers, but fighting was too ordinary)

totally agree with you. I also thing that 6 was the better one, love the characters (shadow ::) ) i also find 9 great specially for the battles cause were the clasic ones. FF7 is great but i see to much funboy around it. And XII the music and the enviroment was great cause the cast of vagrant story was the one who work on it xD the music is in a lot of part the same jojo well and the grafic are exactly the same style. I was so desapointing with these game, i mean with that awesome and so epical introduction movie and after that that lame sucky boy called vahn =( well i hope SE release the continuation of FF4 to ds that would be faking awesome

Will the Final game be a Fantasy?

    Oh the pun-manity.

I've personally never really liked the Final Fantasy games, at least the main ones as much - I've always enjoyed the offshoot series, like Tactics and Crystal Chronicles.

Final Fantasy, the original, is pretty good, though there's oftentimes a complete and utter lack of direction on where to go next.

Final Fantasy II was very annoying for me, mostly in it's leveling system - not having definite levels means that I would either under or over level, making the entire experience very boring.

Final Fantasy III was pretty good, but it wasn't particularly amazing.

I played FF VII for five minutes and decided that that would probably be enough of my time spent...

FF8 I just never really played, though I never really had any drive to actually play it <,<

FFX-2 has a place in my heart for being horrible, but so horrible that it was actually good. The leading ladies (yes I know there have been others >.>) made it rather interesting, and the class system was pretty fun to tinker with.

FF12 I hate. More than 7... which I didn't actually play that much of. I find the story to be extremely melodramatic and overcomplicated, the combat to be more fitting to an MMO for it's slower pace, and nothing else about it I found to be good.

Crystal Chronicles is different, and I appreciate that. I always liked to play it, but I can never put my finger on exactly what it is I like. Maybe it's the one time I've played it for the visuals, as they're really quite detailed and artistic, but I also might have played it just for the moogles =3

Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Advance and A2 are my game. I'll love them 'till I die, and then I'll probably love them a little longer.

And, on a completely unrelated note - the hair. WHY!?

i do have high hopes for XIII. Square FINALLY drops the goodie-two-shoes main protagonist and going with a dark mysterious one. they always make better games with the dark ones. example? compare Cloud/Squall with Tidus/Vaan.

tidus and vaan are high pitched whiners.

squall doesn't say much and cloud has a deeper voice (at least in AC).

gunblade is sweet, therefore squall, and seifer are sweet.

and to answer a few posts up, X-2 refined ATB and job classes are the only two points that i liked.

job classes are my favorite aspect of RPGs, especially when you can change them and retain all of the previous skills.

Actually Cloud barely says much, and in the movie, his voice is quite high. Yes, but the more mysterious ones seem to do better than the ones like "I'm going to be the best fighter ever!", I actually hate protagonists like that.

My favorite is FFVIII, althought i didnt play FFXII, i can't give a full opinion but so far my favorite has to FF8. FF5's story was also very good with Bartz, Lenna, Krile, and Faris. Although the first time around i changed the name of Bartz so when my friend asked me about it, i was like "Who the hell is Bartz?" The stories of 8 and 5 IMO is better than FF4,6,7,9, and 10. Also FF1&2 was awesome, I dont know what but it caught my eyes and i couldnt stop playing it xD.

an 8 year old's voice is deeper than vaan's.

ff8 has one of the most unique systems especially with leveling.
the idea of keeping your levels extremely low added a challenge, which pays in the long run.
also the challenge of getting everyone's final weapons (minus irvine's) while still on disc 1 is also a great achievement.
the low level game is nice because its an ongoing challenge from start to finish, unlike chocobo racing or lightning dodges that only last for that one event and not the whole game.

low level game is like trying to beat zelda games with just 3 hearts or beat FFX without any summons/sphere grid changes or whatever that challenge is...

edit: even playing Crisis Core, Zack's attitude and pitch change from upbeat and whiny to a more serious calm tone.
