On the topic of online relationships. My girlfriend, the gamer, not hardcore, but that one that plays games with me while we wait in lines, or for food, and the 2PLAYER games, so we play TOGETHER and TALK WHILE we're PLAYING. She randomly found me on myspace, added me, and then we liked each other. Different high schools, same area, after a while we found out we live down the street, and now we're in college. At the SAME college.

A little to detailed there in the middle, but I guess some people need details.
    To each their own.

When I try to start a casual dialog with some female gamers, all they talk about is games, games and more games. I get exhausted after a while talking about just games. It's so hard to even be friends with some of them...but I have friends who are female gamers.

Nah, she's right. When anyone finds out a gamer is a real girl in games, two responses happen:

    A) They shower her in free items, compliments, friend requests, etc.

    or

    B) They spout off hatred and start reciting sexist jokes.

The latter happens less often than the former.

ok hold on game girls and cosplay girls are two different things. i go to an anime convention every year with my friends at the o2 (one of them can get us free tickets) and 11 times out of 10 i've wanted to stab my eyes out and puke in my eye sockets because of people doing cosplay. i don't think its cool and i don't think its normal, gamer girls are relatively normal not trying to be tifa lockheart or gaara of the sand village yet again its something im not fond of but have to accept but most gamer girls wouldn't do that...

I'm surprised this topic actually exists to be honest. Female gamers should not be treated different as guy gamers. Gaming is a hobby, it's universal. It's surprising the acceptance that video games have gotten over the years, after starting on computer DOS games to the NES, games were usually geared and advertised towards boys. For an example, see the Legend of Zelda commercial.

Now it's accepted and no longer geared towards anyone really. While there's some games that are geared towards the Hannah Montana in all of us, well that didn't exist when I was little. And when it did, there was very little. Even the Gameboy brand doesn't exist anymore, now it's completely re branded as the DS.

As a husband of a now gaming girl, I embrace it. I enjoy the time we share inside and outside our new found hobby together even if she does kick my ass at a few games competitively, it doesn't matter. I like love it, it's fun and I wouldn't have it any other way.

hahah I've cosplayed a few times before >_< hahah although I only do it because one of my friends does. But yeah cosplay is a rather weird thing and I totally understand why people don't like it. I also think that gamer girls and cosplay girls are generally two different types of people.
