What i mean by good gameplay is not innovation. It is POLISH,FUN,ADDICTIVE QUALITY that determine the gameplay...not innovation.Innovation will only be impactful if done right. If you said that graphics are the only thing that set game's quality apart because it can be improved then i will have to disagree...graphics will soon reach the limit.

Yawn. Still no example, and I've never seen anyone complain about public betas.

That's because public betas aren't a bad thing and only improve on the final product of the game. They're done for a purpose and it's so that the developers can get feedback of their game before releasing it. They've always existed so I don't see the point in complaining about betas when in reality, they're there for a reason. The reason being improvement.

To answer the original post, every fanboy is annoying. There is no 'decent' fanboy. You want to know the reason as to why? Because a fanboy will always look at things their way and you won't be able to persuade them that they're wrong about their system of choice. It's better to just be a 'fan' of video games in general instead of just supporting one company and being behind it. Being just a 'neutral fan' will broaden up your gaming horizons and introduce you to new experiences. When you're a fanboy, you won't be able to able to appreciate what the competition brings to the table because you'll just be stuck in your little bubble that won't pop.

In general terms, do I believe that fanboys are a good thing? Perhaps. After all, they're more likely to go and pre-order any game they want, they're more likely to go and camp outside of a store for the launch of their preferred console, etc. I don't necessarily think they're a negative influence to the video game industry because extreme fans exist on any type of media, not only video games. To underestimate this cult-like fandom would be an understatement and this applies to any entertainment hobby out there.

I'm allright with fanboys. What i hate about them is when they bash products or games from the competition. For me, fanboys of a particular game, genre, company,or platform are usually the most outspoken haters of whatever the competition has to offer.

Fanboys have always been around Commodre 64 vs. Amstrad Atari St vs. Amiga 500 etc, but over the past 10 years it has really gotten out of hand. Your typical fanboy/fangirl now behaves like a religious zealot, refusing point-blank to except that other companies also make good product. They try to 'convert' people to their way of 'thinking' (and I use the term loosely). The best example of this type of foolishness can be found right here on Romulation. I'm going to name (and I hope) shame someone who I find to be insufferable, not because of the platform they choose, but the way in which they poor scorn on anything not coming from 'their team'. Ultra, I think they're playing your song. (If you think I have been harsh naming this person I will gladly eat my words if anyone can find just 1 example where he gives props to a company other than Nintendo. )

fanboyism isn't just found in the console world, If anything the fanboyism for films is worse. twishite is a prime example. The story isn't even that good and yet people suffer threats and even physical violence from the 'fangirls' (because its mostly females) because they dared cricicise the holy gospel of meyers.

Yes.I agree with this one.Film fanboys are more vigorous in their action of fanboyism.just look Star Wars fanboys. Those people think that Star Wars is the best series ever even though the trilogy were terrible. They keep using the old Star Wars to defend the downfall of the franchise.
