    My uncle is a bus driver so I got a card which I don't have to pay for. I just have to show it and I can sit down.

    Don't you have controls?
    Sometimes there are random controls in the bus here.
    The people from the bus company enter the bus at a stop and control all the people in the bus, either while the bus is driving or while the bus is waiting at the busstop.

    I think in this context "checks" is better. Anyways, in the 7 years I rode the bus I only had 7 controls

    Checks, controls, either word is fine by me.
    It's sometimes difficult to translate my thoughts to English.

    And i didn't have many controls/ checks either. As i said: random.
