Dragon Quest IX - Discussion Thread

I know some monster drop it..But I have read in a book that it can be found somewhere on the ground. Tired of hunting the same monster again and again to get nothing ;D

If you mean by 'Brighten Rock', you can find it at the following locations,
- Northeast of Djust Desert, which is just north of the Oasis.
- North of Wormwood Canyon

You should have been given the ship at that point. You take it and head to the desert island that holds the town of Gleeba.

- Clean ROM, the weird file name is on purpose, the actual ROM should still be named fine. I figure, the more random the name, the longer it takes them to detect it's an illegal file.

- Ignore the random file name, it's the game. I figure that the more random the name, the more likely it is that it may stay up just that much longer.

 

Played all night and beat the final boss, stayed a minstrel the entire story, so i was happy about that, now to find the quest to be a Luminary. Still looking for the Thief quests, even though I don't have a thief anymore It's the only class quest I have yet to find.

 

The quest to be a Luminary can be taken in Gleeba post game.

 

What is the difference between the patched and the clean version?

 

The "Clean" doesn't have the AP removed. Basically, it's up to your cart's firmware to try and bypass the AP naturally. Not many carts can do this yet. The Pre-patched has all of the AP removed and works 100% on most carts with very minor issues on those it doesn't work on.

The Clean only works on:

Supercard DSTwo
CycloDS with the latest beta
Original R4 with Wood R4 v1.11
Acekard2i with AKAIO 1.7.1 (I believe it's supposed to anyways)

I haven't heard of anything else that can naturally bypass the AP yet.

Wow, usually I don't really like game like Dragon Quest, but I'm loving <3 I have to try the others, too.

I just reached the place where you change your class and my party is:

Dhiro - Ministrel - Lvl 15
Alice - Thief - Lvl 14
Cecille - Priest - Lvl 14
Ryou - Mage - Lvl 13

I need to level up a lot... and the names I put in my characters are silly :

 

I just started yesterday. A few questions:

1) you get four party members in total, right? and i will be able to name and customize them too, i heard?

2) this is my first game in the DQ series. I have been playing RPGs for a VERY long time and i am wondering how much hours would this game provide and how difficult is it throughout the whole game?

3) Other tips for beginners of this game and this series?

Yes. You can create and customize them. You can give them names, change the height, the hair... etc.
