This crazy idea/image suddenly came to me:
Mr Popo will be a guy from "da hood"
He'll keep saying things like:
"Yo sup Goku?"
"Where the balls at?"
"fo shizzle ma nizzle"

 

Isn't that a bit stereotypical?

 

Yes, I know that. I said it's just a crazy idea. But it's just a Hollywood movie anyway.
This is just the same thing like when almost everytime an Asian appear:
-He is Chinese
-He knows kungfu
-If he's not Chinese, he's Japanese and he's a ninja/samurai

I know stereotype is not good in life, but in movies it's just funny ;D

sorry but the Chinese versoin looked lame too, i surely wouldent wast my money on the amarican one (nor the Chinese one) but i thank il still watch it(bootleg) to honor my former anime obsession

If you based your lame remmark on the visuals, do remember that it was shot in the late 80's so you can't expect any fancy shmancy CGI graphics in it. But if you're basing it on the plot, then I disagree, the Chinese movie was spot on with the story, that is if you knew of Dragonball, the series before Dragonball Z when Goku was still 5 years old.

And there were several great Anime to live action series out there.

How about the live action GTO? The live action You are Under Arrest? Or the live action Death note movie?

And don't forget that Chinese/Taiwanese Hanayori Dango rip off Meteor Garden which was a sensation at one time, God I hated those F4 douchebags

 

no no, i did not base my opinion on the graphics(i dont judge graphics), just live action db looked silly and the fight scenes look over dramatic

 

hong kong fighting sceen is always over dramatic.... especially during the 80 where almost every hong kong director are making a Kung Fu movie.

 

Hey Cal, remember Golden Harvest? That's one of those 80's Hong Kong movie companies who made alot of those overly-dramatic Kung Fu movies ;D

Yes, their intro usually starts with a black background then four yellow rectangles start to appear forming a "G" then the full name of the Company gets placed bellow it.
