The downloads from Gamefaqs are "DUC" file types. They are save file backups using the Action Replay device for the DS.

Under source format choose "Action Replay Max DS (.duc/.dss)"
Under target format choose "Acekard 2 | CycloDS | EDGE | M3 SIMPLY | NinjaDS | R4 | Supercard CF | Supercard One | Supercard SD | Top Toy DS (.sav)"

Once the file is converted, you take the converted file and rename it to the exact name of the NDS file, exampled before

KingdomHearts.NDS
KingdomHearts.SAV

The converter website shows the save file extension being .0 rather than .SAV but I believe the more recent M3DS Real firmwares replaced that with .SAV instead.

No.

Convert it to the M3DS Real format.
Once you have it converted, change the name to what ever the name of your game is with .SAV at the end.

So if your game is named KingdomHearts.NDS name your save file to KingdomHearts.SAV
