I usually drink half/full bottle of whiskey, usually 15 year old-ish J&B, on friday nights(to be more precise, around every 2 fridays) with a couple of friends, though i never let it get to a point where i cant stand up straight... i've never blacked out, nor do i seem to show symptoms of being drunk 'till after about 2/3's of the bottle(kinda weird really...). I feel(and been told so) that i have a decent self control over it, hence why i'm usually labeled the responsible one between the group...
i drink every now and then but i don't really see the difference tho....when i drink i don't feel anything and there was this one time i wanted to see what would happen if i drink a lot of alcohol (i drank like 6 beers, half bottle of Black label and a few shots of liquid cocaine) and i can still remember everything i did, i walked straight, i spoke normal but the only thing i did was throw up about 2 hours after..I think I'm immune to alcohol ;D
I drank in college. And I drank nightly while out of town for a year with coworkers while I was working. But then two years ago the night before thanksgiving (called the biggest bar night of the year) I got completely wasted at a club and spilled a drink on a girl. My friends took me back to the hotel, and I was out. As soon as I opened the door to the room I fell face first to the floor in the room. The next two days were horrible, and since then, in the last two years, I have had maybe 6 beers while at steak houses with customers, coworkers and sales reps.
I'm a casual drinker myself. I was a bit heavy on it a few months back but I had a lot of shit going on that contributed to that. I usually stop as soon as I get a nice buzz going. I certainly don't have an issue with watching the show other people make when they drink a bit too much though.
I think alcohol is bad. First, it's about Social and emotion. We know that usually people become uncontrollable(and violent) when they drink too much alcohol, makes the social in some case become worse. I think it's enough for now(I'll explain the rest later, since i need to make you understand first.)
Alcohol has different effects one different people... i know guys who can become more prone to violence when drunk, just like i know a few who feel calmer when drunk, in other words, less prone for violence. Some people might even become more aware of stuff, from just their surroundings to being more aware of themselfs, i've seen it once, didnt really know the guy 'till a year or so later... anyway, i think that, in just a slight few cases, drinking can be positive... enlightning even... though on most cases it's pretty bad. Also, a shy guy, after a few drinks, may have the courage to ask a girl out, that's not bad is it So, i'm just saying that drinking isn't always bad, as long as it's controlled... oh! not to mention that, for example, a slight bit of whiskey helps your heart pump, which is healthy...
I only drink to make other people more interesting. Joking! However I live in a culture where drinking is seen as the norm and if you don't at all or are just having a break from it, you're viewed as somewhat of a freak. In social situations it is almost impossible to say "No thanks". It really is hard to have a good time without alcohol being part of the equation.
The effect of the alcohol is vary between people. But i remember that 65% crimes in America are because of drunk. you may be right, we can say like this: Normal->Violent ->Uncontrollable ->Both I didn't say that every person will be violent because of alcohol. Second reason: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/effects-alcohol-human-body.html
This is right as drinking alcohol is healthy. But Alcohol is a substance that relaxes the body.... which in due time will become addictive so dirnking controllably will not be possible
It is possible to drink controllably... just dont expect it to be easy, and a few friends trying to do the same can help as well(of course most people dont try to drink in a controlled fashion, it'll be kinda hard to find friends trying to do that...)
it's easy to drink controllably. i don't know about you but i can have one and say no more, i can drink with a meal and stop there. if i tern in to a crazy drunkard for the night that will be my choice to do so.
