Okay, that is one fantastic idea!
Why not just stick with books. Its just about the only thing that is guarenteed to be okay in secondhand edition (I mean, how many people have brought a second hand game only to find a hidden glitch, you don't get that with a book). I dont really see any point in e-books, you can't have page turners if you can't turn pages. You can't leave an e-book lying open on your bed, sitting in wait on your favourite spot- the battery will drain. You cant stick your favourite things in between the pages to keep them safe- they have no pages! And and e-book is never going to survive getting caught in the rain for a bit.
Plus your kudos goes up a LOT if someone walks into your room to see a towering bookcase crammed with books, a portable e-book placed on the bedside table (even with the same ammount all stored inside it) just doesnt pack the same punch.

Ive always loved books. Heck next to my computer i have 2 stacks of computer programming an what not books halfway to the ceiling(never got around to makin shelfs). video games rock but books are awesome in there own way. After work i hate to sit in front of a monitor an read. It just feels different. I don't think books will ever totally go away

I don't really have anything against e-books but I prefer real books you can hold. I like feeling the texture of the paper, holding the book, carrying it around (and not some gadget with a pdf reader).

And I don't know about other people, but I don't find books outdated.
I'd rather read a book than watch the telly and I prefer using books as references for my papers rather than the internet.

I'm a big fan of books,
There is this book series called Pendragon by D.J MacHale
One of the book focuses upon the future of Earth,
There is the main library in New York and there are no books,
Just a single storage device which shows holograms while speaking and showing the story.
So yeah, i reckon that books will become extinct in the future, even though I love them to death!

I love to read books from Stephen King.
I've read almost any book that came from his hand and can honestly say that the book is always better than the movie

Books, especially the very to extremely old ones are important to us as historians. we need to read them to prove theories and other well known facts. some of us even take hours a day just to hunt those rare books in the archives of the libraries to find new facts to be written.

i have to say yes they are. but one day some thing will happen. and then we will see the true value of a book at the time of what will happen

I'd have to disagree with kids - they'll read a book over seeing the movie cos my son prefers movies over reading fiction.

Personally I'd rather read the book before watching the movie

Books are great, and I personally can't stop reading them. However, the cost of them is ridiculous. You can buy a 300-500 page book for about $7-$10, however, think about buying 50 books. Or 100. The cost just piles up. I think that the price of books really needs to be reduced before reading will go up. While libraries are great, as I often visit them myself, checking out about 10 books, their selection is horrible. They have the first 3 books of a series, and then are missing 5, and have the last 2.

Books are great and I love them. However, I don't think that they will become incredibly popular until they are less expensive.

^ I don't think bookstore prices are expensive when you're paying for a good book that you know you will keep rereading in the years to come. (But then again there are some books I wouldn't pay even a cent for, like Twilight or cheesy Mitch Albom novels...) Second hand bookstores are great if you're on a budget. They usually have bestsellers, textbooks and the occasional rare book (if you're willing to sift through piles of books).

And yeah, it's hard to find good libraries, at least where I live. :(
