@ jasonT929 MGS1 is long, because it has a high replay value + getting the highest ranks is a challenge I don't like these political/historical strategy games too much, i'm not a born general
You sure have a good point. Nowadays, everything is online. I don't even buy games for single player mission mode anymore, I'm always competing with others around the world in 1st person shooting games like Call of Duty and fighting games like Street Fighter IV and Tekken.
Bleh! Online... everyone can play what they want, but i don't think it's fun to run around all day and shoot people in the head <--- the majority of today's games are like that. as for reviews, try to read more than one if you're interested about a game, it helps alot, because one person IS NOT ABLE to write a bout every feature of a game and people have different tastes
I don't like online reviews at places like Gamespot because they're "know-it-alls". Well, I'm pretty young myself (younger than Krusha), but I have never given graphics much significance. I mean, a unique graphics style can bring a game to a next level, but gameplay, story and the overall "fun" factor means more to me. I've played and loved a lot of SNES/GBA games (like Fire Emblem , SMRPG, final fantasy 1, 2,4,6) and games like Starcraft, Neverwinter Nights. But most (all?) of my friends do judge a game by graphics.
@ tvrtko @ databank It's sad, that most people judge games only based on graphics But then again, the gaming industry is oriented at people who crave graphics and easy games. I've read a survey made by Score magazine, that a whopping 72 percent of gamers (in my country) say that graphics are the most important thing in a game <--- WTF?
they are dying, http://kotaku.com/5323178/11+year+old-exposed-to-contra-for-the-first-time-hates-it gaming has become how much time you put into it.
It is a lot you know. I usually only play for 1 to 3 hours when I'm in a day off. I ever pull a 6 hours and damn it was exhausting for me. For the topic itself, I'm just an casual gamer play whatever fun to play for me. I don't care about graphic or even difficulty. Just whatever fun. It could be an easy game or it could be a difficult game.
Been a while, but got a couple of games DS: Fire Emlem: Shadow Dragon (Easy on low difficulties, but took me a day to complete the first level on the hardest!) PS3: Armoured Core: For Answer, Disgaea 3 (There is no end to the levelling!) PSP: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (same as Disgaea 3) PC: I think they've stopped making PC games TBH... X360: Too many generic FPS with regenerating health.
man just read this forum and you said you had problem getting games? this is a rom site so i take it you know something about piracy! u can't really download any ps3/xbox 360 games to my knowlegde but there all shit any way!! got my ps2 hacked and so i just download games and burn them to disk, you'd be suprised but the ps2 has quite a few jrpgs worth checkin out like shin megami tensi nocturne or suikoden iiii longer than most games but alota fun also gotta check out shadow of the collosus short but sweet!!
I feel that gamers are becoming used to games that are "click here to win" rather than the older games which were all like: "stand on your head and eat a monkey whilst pooping out a rainbow and beating every megaman game in under 20 seconds" well-something like that
@ jasonT929 I also said that i like to get original copys of games. I may sound like an ass for saying this, but it's necessary to support the developers, because if everyone would pirate their stuff, they'd go out of business and there would be nothing left to pirate I'm planning on buying Persona 3: FES and Persona 4 <-- big fan of the series. But i sometimes get tired of those jrpgs, because most (not all, but most) play the same, they just look different @ Mikiie That sums up todays gaming nicely.
games should not be on graphics, it should be about plot and the game itself, it could have the best graphics, but if it sucks, time wasted
Depends on what you like. Here's my Little list of games i value highly: Planescape: Torment (PC) Lots of text, nice story, main character is as cool as hell, soundtrack is flawless. Fallout 2 (PC) RPG set in a post-nuclear world, lots of humour, Many ways to play and develop your character. Icewind Dale (PC) Another RPG, ok story, tough battles. Sally's Salon/Sally's Spa (PC) Time management games, cute graphics, beating the highscores is fun Jets'n'Guns (PC) Retro style scrolling shmup, excellent soundtrack, funny at times, many ways to customise your ship, has a VERY old-school game feel to it. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (PC) NIce chill-out game, fantasy setting, logic puzzler. Breath of Fire 3 (PSX) Best RPG for the PSX, nuff said. Revelations series: Persona (PSX) An ok RPG, you can "chat" with demons, nice characters, maze-like dungeons. The english version is butchered (horrible grammar, alot of unnecessary name changes). Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PSX) A sequel to the above mentioned Persona, chatting with demons, rumor system, ok voice acting. The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall (PC) RPG, EXTREMELY LARGE WORLD to explore, nice combat system, nudity. The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (PC) RPG, nice exploration, ok voices, cool story. Deus Ex (PC) FPS/RPG, excellent story, distinctive ways to play your character. Ground Control 2: Operation Exodus (PC) One of the best (imo) RTS games for the PC, every unit has it's use, AI puts up a challenge. Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (PC) Action RPG, lots of items, tons of monsters, This game has NEVER left my hard-drive, very addictive. Vandal Hearts 2 (PSX) Tactics game, excellent story, latter battles tend to be very long. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSX) Fast paced fighting game, best played against a human opponent. Metal Slug X (PSX) Good old action platformer, difficult challenges. Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium (PS2) Another fast paced fighting game, lots of characters to choose from. Need For Speed: Most Wanted (PS2/PC) The best game of the whole series. Contra (NES) Action platformer, short but fun, 2 player co op mode. Star Ocean 2 (PSX) One of the best games for the PSX, Nice characters, good voice acting, voice collection, item creation. Blaze and Blade: Eternal quest (PSX) Large action rpg, good music, some battles are way difficult, co op mode. These are the few i can write off the bat.
Difficult and fun games are dying, and even though Luk wrote some that are really good difficult and fun games, there's no doubt that everyone is trying to become the next best thing in gaming, but games that are unique like Jet Set Radio are dying out because no-one buys them. If we all buy more of those types of games then we wouldnt have this problem where difficult and FUN games are dying out because we're all focused on graphics. Graphics can make a game but not always make a game.
games should be long and difficult, and awesome, i don't care as long it takes to make it as the game is awesome
i think games are more for ps3 and xbox when pc games are getting better and better tf2 (team fortress 2) is a good game l4d is a good game i don't have a ps3 or xbox because i think pc is just as good steam is very good.
