Er, oops missed your question a long time ago...

Contra 4 came out for the DS, which was the only reason I broke down and bought my DS Lite.

    Don't worry about that. :)

Is it ported from the SNES? I found a game that looks just like it- it's called Cobtra Spirits.

well those so called flashy games you speak of is a big reason why video games today are so popular, now im a retro gamer through and through, so i do know what your talking about when you say games are easier today, but there should be enough games made throughout the years to keep you satisfied... i revisit games i never had the opportunity play when i was younger(CSOTN simply great game)

You do have a point, but i like to buy a new game from time to time and then there is the issue of availability of older games (sure, you have emulators), but nothing beats an original game with a box and manual.
    What's CSOTN?

how come todays games can't compete with the 8bit and 16bit generation of games? it tells you something doesn't it, like the direction we're heading is in the wrong direction. even today, we still play those old games even though we may or may not have played them in the past. i really do miss those days.

Because the old 8 and 16-bit ARE better. :)

It's just sad, that modern gamers want graphics over playability :(

In a few years the old-school hard-core gamers are going to die out or go crazy due to playing Castlevania 24/7 :(

If you want good games (in my opinion) you should give these a try:

1.Final Fantasy (all of them) PS1,PS2,DS,Game Boy Advance
2.Breath of fire (all of them, EXCEPT 5) PS1,PSP
    3.Okami. PS2,WII
    4.Legend od legaia. PS1
    5.Megaman command mission PS2,Game Cube
6.Pokemon (if want to spend a lot of time on video games, you should try getting all the pokemons)
7.Castlevania (all of them, EXCEPT THE ONES FOR PS2) PS1,DS,Game boy Advance,NES,SNES
    8.Valkyrie Profile. PS1,PS2,DS

When I feel like a stupidly hard challenge I turn to the ZXDS emulator. http://zxds.raxoft.cz/ One of the finest emulators on the DS. A game of Wheelie on it is sure to satisfy your hardcore needs.

no, i believe they're going to come back. look at the wii, it's bringing gaming back. i could see some sort of challenge being done with the motion controller, maybe like a sword fight game where it challenges the users reaction time to blocking as well as making strikes against the opponent [something you don't get with dual analog joy sticks].

I've played all FFs for the PSX. I, VI (Kefka!), VII and VIII were the best IMO

BOF3 Is one of my favorite RPG's of all time, BOF4 was disappointing in a way :( I've played BOF2 on emu, but my HDD died and i didn't have a backup :(

Okami, that's with the Japanese wolf? The one where you have to colour the stages? That one never came out in here :(

Legend of Legaia is nice too, took me a long time to finish and the story is very nice.

Not a single MegaMan game came out here and sadly i don't have modded PS2.

I'm not a big fan of the Pokemon games, i'd rather play Monster Rancher/Farm.

My uncle sent me the collector's edition Konami disc, Castlevania IS one the HARDEST GAMES OUT THERE!!! I still keep getting lost in Simon's quest.

Valkyrie profile? Is that the one that has characters from Star Ocean 2?

    @ c740

I have both Saga Frontier games, the first one is fun (i like the battle and skill system), but the second one is something horrible.

    @ 1prinnydood
I'll try that, when i get to a better PC :)

    @ ultra
I'm not too familiar with the Wii scene, not many titles are being released here. But the motion controls sound like a good idea, despite the bad voices on the net.

Anyway! :D I've finished Revelations: Persona and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Does anyone have any info on P2: Innocent Sin? I've been trying to find an english translated ISO, but to no avail. Still alot of people say that there is a group working on the translation. Someone know more?

I'd try some of the snes final fantasy games, and also secret of mana. Flashback is also a very hard game (snes/megadrive) but not necessarily in a good way. also lord of the rings on snes.

I'll try the FFs for the snes when i revive my computer, been thinking about giving them a go, but something always got in the way.
Secret of Mana rocked, definately one of the coolest RPG's.

I hated Flashback. Used to play it at my uncle's place, when i was a kid. HOrrible memories of it *shudder*

I've downloaded the rom of Lord of the rings several times and i could never get it to run on any of the emulators i have.

I used zsnesw and snes9x but it always gave me a black screen. That was the only rom i couldn't run, others ran fine though.

hell ya the final fantasies (ff7 the best) and secret of mana are a F**king must. (i have a file goin on both right now for the 100th time)
and secret of evermore is just as good. next to secret of mana most people will tell u its a disgrace, and hate it. but has an awesome magic system, and the best soundtrack to this day. theres no reason to hate it if u like s.o.m.

some more difficult games that kick just as much ass are breath of fire 1 and 3. and the hardest rpg out there The 7th Saga. A F ing hard game.

you shouldn't let difficulty and length be yourmonly factors un playing a game, metal gear for the ps1 is one of the greatest games of all time even though it is very easy and very short but if you are looking for length the longest game ive ever played is rome:total war if you did all the factions it would take weeks to do even at 20 hours a day
