Difficult and fun games are dying?

Tidus is more of a moron than Zidane was, plus Zidane was daring, though the Beastial Characters of FF9 didn't go well with my tastes.

 

you know what? I have to agree...these kinds of games are becoming more and more scarce. And the sad thing is that most new gamers think that these new games are the hardest in the world. ??? Like, i was talking to one of my friends who lives in Colorado, and he said Gears Of War 2 was the hardest game he's ever played... Which made me want to headbutt him in the groin. I told him he hasn't played a "hard" game until he's played Ninja Gaiden , BattleToads, or Devil May Cry games.

If you think some games are too easy, you should find a game you really like and add random, arbitrary rules to it. For example, when I was really into RE4, after I beat Pro for the 6th time, I decided to do a handgun-only run .And after that, I did a knife-only run.
(random fact: did you know you can beat that game firing only 2 bullets?

 

i would like to see more tactics games such as advance wars, final fantasy tactics, fire emblem and tactics ogre. these games are always fun challenging interesting and totally awesome, but they are rare and people dont make enough games in this genre

 

Everyone has their tastes I guess, but I'm attempting to go back and collect and play every FF from at least 3 to IX. If I can only get epsxe to work. It's givin' me problems before, viral problems so I'm weary to download it again. I had it at the time of the initial discovery of the virus so anything I had at the time, I'm incredibly weary of downloading. The FF's you mentioned are good, especially seven if some people do think it's overrated. I wouldn't know, never played it.

Tidus was a retard, but there's a special reason for that. SquareEnix or whatever purposefully made him that way so when he "left" everyone felt sad. They purposefully gave him so much life and energy, to make the general public like that. They made him a good soul, classic drama technique, it lets us relate more to him, thus feel sorry for him.

Yeah, young gamers (around 15 years old) think that these games are hard, bleh.
I did a knife-only playthrough of RE3, killing EVERYTHING My buddy didn't believe me and when i played through the game infront of him with the knife, he was speechless
Hmmm, looks like i'll have to get RE4 and give it a go.

I mostly like beast-races (for example TES's khaajiti), but these "things" in FF9 didn't agree with me at all

I agree with you, these games are long lasting. Reminds me of the last battle in Vandal Hearts 2 Loved it Also Vanguard Bandits was fun too.


I installed DOSBOX yesterday and played through Knights of Xentar (for 18+ only) i could laugh my ass off Cobra mission is also a good one These two games are short, but atleast you'll get to laugh If you don't mind sexist humour.

Nah bit younger then that, I'm only 16 and I played through all the classic hard games (albeit at a rather young age)
I'd say 11 or younger don't know what a hard game is like (I still think battletoads: battlemaniacs is impossible without cheats... furthest I ever got was the "rat race" level and I got SLAUGHTERED every time)

Amen to that, the other day I posted the same news I posted here at RomUlation about the SNES Dragon Quest 3 being completely in English now to a local gaming forum & the retards there commented that why should I bother with this "old" game when there are newer games with great graphics you could play. To top it all off a nimrod moderator there locked the thread because he said & I quote:

"Using emulators is a bad thing, & discussing things like that here are prohibited"

Then my account got tempo banned ???

I won't be coming back there any time soon, even if they lift my tempo ban, thank you very much.

 

I, meanwhile, am still waiting for any RPG to come CLOSE to Final Fantasy Tactic's in terms of story and gameplay. Sure, I like the new FF's as much as anyone, but I wish they could just go back to the basics of what makes games great. Gameplay, story, sufficient graphics and sound.

If you like FF tactics, then you could try: Vanguard Bandits, Vandal Hearts 2 and Ogre Tactics: Let us cling together. All games are for the PSX and are VERY similar to FFT.
Vanguard Bandits is short, but it has multiple endings and a very nice bonus section + a robot gallery.
Vandal Hearts 2 has 4 different endings, the battles are LONG and will strain your brain to the limit. Also the story is very good.
Ogre Tactics: Luct is the most similar to FFT, multiple character classes and nice graphics.

@Luk7nk4: Since you brought up Tactics Ogre 7: Let us Cling together into the discussion, let me just say that Squaresoft, plagiarised Tactics Ogre 7, when they released the First FF Tactics. The way the story was told, the "bar quests" system, the setting up your birth date system & even the Zodiac signs affecting each other theme was taken from Tactics Ogre 7. So if FF Tactics was your ideal of the revolutionary tactics game series, all of you were wrong, Tactics Ogre was the one who started it.

I posted that bit of gaming history information because there are alot of people going gaga over FF Tactics thinking it was so revolutionary when in fact it was a rip off of an unknown gaming company's hard work, Quest.
