Works on my R4 on Wood V1.06. Press Start as soon as venom intro appears and game loads and plays O.K.

If you die, it says it can't access the saved file.

guys download a pre-patched version of this game here...

this should work on most cards so now you can play and save and it will work fine
just download and stick on your card and play (if you want to use your old save then just rename the .sav what the .nds is)
enjoy...

yeah trust me it saves fine and you can re-load with no problems

I have the r4ultra and i can play it fine but it wont let me turn of my ds without having to start over and i really wanted to play survival mode.

Alright, works awesome on the Dstti version 1.17a12!! Details: You can save just fine BUT when you die and press continue, it'll say 'Save file cannot be accessed". So, all you have to do is turn off your ds and turn it back on and play. It'll continue from your last saved point so no harm done, just a little time consuming though. ^_^"
I dunno if this would help but i had my soft reset off. I dunno.... XD

yeah I think it would work better if soft reset was off,so you can give that a try because I've never had to re-start when I die.
