I'd assume everybody has at least read the right source for this.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deja_vu

Personally I think this phenomenon is built by experience on something that you didn't really remember and triggered when you get a similar sensation, you try to remember the previous experience but you can't. Our brain is imperfect, we can't just remember everything in our life, can we?
Pretty much like the "Memory-based Explanation" on the Wikipedia.

so, let's change the topic to: do you ever have a deja vu? when and where/what?

Umm... I often had one at random places, usually with my friends, and I'm sure I've experience the same feelings (dialogues, standing positions, not the place). As for place familiarity, I don't remember I've ever had one.

This may sound ridiculous; but I often have dreams of the future, usually it's only about 10 seconds and almost always inconsequential. More often than not it's just a conversation or action. I think everyone has these futuristic dreams, just don't remember them.

I have deja vu's when I am tired. I think ,my brain tries to slow down and sends me old visions.

    *PS:I hate myself

Go watch The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Season 2

after you watched it, you're going to kill the next person who mentions a deja-vu

Deja-vu is simple: It's the picture of what ever you're seeing but your brain comprehends it twice straight away accidently, so you think you have seen it before! Deja-vu happens in a split second (The pictures you see).

Many people mistake Deja-vu from just having stuff looking the same

Hmm,I sure get alot of feelings that I've already done this thing or that. It's like a repeated version of my life.Heck,I hate myself.I've experience many time as alex does.

My above comment is the scientific reason, but by the look of it, most people I know think of it as when you have done somthing lots of times and its just repetitive. Deja vu is when you get that real weird feeling and think "WOW! This is weird as!"

Mine's not.I have never experience that in my life. It's like, what can I say, suddenly I felt that I've done it before, the exact thing what am I doing as that was my first time doing it.
