I missed the days of firing squads, do they still do that in the army? Here, only the NPA and MILF does that, i think. Maybe also the Davao Mayor but that is just rumors.

Cause we scraped the death penalty, there had been more extra-judicial killings. Also salvage, kidnapping a criminal and killing him somewhere else, had been more felt nowadays.

no, the army uses court martials/dishonourable discharges these days.

even for treason and other high crimes? what a shame... i think its better than hanging.

treason/high treason would probably be punished under the civilian criminal code rather than the military one.

is the Internation Court of Justice implement death penalty? like for war crimes and crimes against humanity? maybe i'm not well informed about that, i dont know anybody else in the 21st Centure that are sent to the ICJ and convicted...

The one i know is just for Saddam Hussein, but i think he got an iraqi verdict, not a ICJ.
Maybe in the 20th Century, the loser of world war II were tried and hanged, but i think it was also not ICJ

No, ICJ does not pass the death sentence. Saddam was sentenced by the Iraqis, and the Nazis were dealt with by the Nuremberg trials (the forerunner of the ICJ, as it happened)

Ooooh, I didn't know that :S Thanks for clearing that up for me.

It's kind of a no-win situation about the terrorist.

Yes they do want to die, and loonylion stated, why make a martyre out of them.

However, in prison, they still get phone calls and televisions and game consoles, before someone says, yes, this is in a normal prison, not maximum security, but, has anyone of us been in a meximum security prison? I know I haven't, for all we know, it could be nice and cosy.

Then, in my eyes, if my statement is correct about the state of the prison, where's the punishment?

the prison system needs reform basically, its now a holiday camp that you can't leave.

Agreed, reoffending is extremely high, and won't go down, because they're all cramped in a sweet little pad with food and board paid for and they can't move 5 feet without seeing another criminal of which they'll probably become friends with and egg each other on when they do get outside and reoffend because that other friend did.

    *breathes*

Sorry, I'm very narrowminded when it comes to my political.

I agree, the prison system in the U.K is basically a holiday.

Money's getting low for them, so they break the law in some way, knowing they'll have a nice little room for them in prison.

I heard of one case where a recently released criminal went into a police station and begged the duty officer to arrest him. When asked why, he replied 'I want to go back to jail, I can't handle life out here'.

Yeah, I remember something on telelvision about a guy who spend 40 years in prison, got out and the first thing he did was steal out of a shop, then admit it.

Exact same reason when asked why he did it 'Because I don't like it out here'

I mean in crims are saying and doing that... then obviously something is going wrong.

If you give power to a person on the understanding that they may kill another person on your behalf, you never had any power to give. Justice is not born out of ignorance.

Man should not have the right to decide when and how another man dies, we are all equal whether we are rich or poor, ignorant or smart, a criminal or a politician....... we are all the same!

would they be equal if they were serial-killers?

So you're saying tha you are equal to a paedofile?

    Or a rapist?

Think about your post, does it make sense?

all im trying to say, is that we're all human beings, not the same character but the same species, And we should not have the power to decide whether someone deserves to die or not
