To distinguish a real NDS from a fake one? I'm sure if they just stick a damn cartridge in there, they'll see that it's real. It's not like Dell services where they nag you for your service code over and over just to check that you have a Dell computer.

The only time I'd be bitchin' for a serial would be to check whether it is a pirated game or not. I doubt people can make fake NDS systems.

If you live in Melbourne, DQ, jump down to a swapmeet.
    They're on every Sunday.

Well its kind of hard playing with my DS, but I think I can handle it... Still, I might go to a repair shop

Most repair shops don't care if the serial code is missing if all they are doing is fixing the system. But anyway it may be your best bet to get it repaired and probably soon because you may be causing further damage by toying with it.

Yeah I looked at youtube vids, and wow, it looks complicated taking the DS apart... So screw that, :p I'll just have to find a repair shop soon (but the good news is my new EZFlash3in1 slot2 expansion pack arrived today! :D)

    Oooo can I have it?!

Anyway it looks rough at first, but after you do it a few times its not all that bad, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone as a first time project.

    That's what she said!

Don't you need some weird screwdriver to take it apart anyway? Good luck finding one of those.

You can get a Tri-wing and a mini screwdriver set for under $2US on DX

There appear to be some fake DS systems for sale on DX
    (Read: refurbished = fake)

(Yes I do love DX :p I ordered so much from them and everything always came perfectly fine within a few weeks)

As for your DS take it to a repair shop or a mate who can re-assemble the things. Re-assembling DSs is much harder then it looks... and it looks fairly hard if you don't know what your doing.
