Have you heard a southener compared to a news reporter? BBC English has no real accent or emotion

    And back on-topic:
As long as we understand each other does it matter?

Exam rules on grammar are being changed in the future
And like English is going to be the main language forever...

Lets just fix this conversation now and blame the degeneration of English on the black people who spread crap-words such as "yo", "HEY YO B****", "GET THE F*** BACK HER YO B****", and so on. I hate black people who act like that. I'm fine with educated, proper black people, but I blame everything else on the stupid ones. I'm not racist though. I hate white people who act like that as well. I hate the stereotype, not the colour.

OMFG! I can understand disliking slang, but blaming it on a racial stereotype.....Sorry, but here in America it isn't only the African-Americans that use that type of slang. The white kids use it too, along with other races as well. Blaming the degradation of the English language upon one type of individual from one type of race is relatively narrow-minded. And one other thing, "Proper black people"? Just because someone fits your ideal of what is right or acceptable doesn't mean that others that don't are bad people.
I have no right to tell you how to feel mind you, you can hate anyone you want, you can hate me for all I care, I just don't understand you can justify hating someone for how they act. Hate the behavior, not the person.

@caboose5379: I get what you're saying about not liking the stereotype & not the race, but still your words are still racist in that you hate a certain aspect of a people's culture or traditions.

I don't use that slang. Now THAT is a stereotype.

Hmmm, well, I wll add to this skirmish. My ancestors were Englishmen, and some of us came over to the "Americas" and some of us stayed in the Uk, but a true Englishman takes pride in making up our language. In the olden days just being English gave you the right to sound out how you wanted to spell things, thus the same word in med-evil times had various accepted spellings.

All languages evolve, its the way of speech, your language either evolves or it dies, I prefer our language to live on frankly

I'm a native Latin, Saxon, French and Norwegian speaker, and I'm appalled at how all these languages have been corrupted and picked apart by the British.

Seriously. You all need to get some fucking perspective. Good day.

Seriously, you just made this black girl right here, very upset. I write, type and speak with proper diction at all times, does that make me a "Proper Black person"? Nope, that just means if I want to get ahead in life and for anyone to understand me, I will write, type and speak so people in general can understand what I'm saying. "Nah, mean?" ::)

IF you are complaining that the Americans are destroying English, then you see nothing yet, come to my country, Malaysia and you will know "what" i mean.

@caboose- If you explained better then it wouldn't have sounded as offensive, you could have used the 'rapper stereotype' as a discriptive word or the 'gangster stereotype'. Just a suggestion as you might upset people.

What many people don't like is grammar variation, well that's how new languages start, do you not notice the simularities of Europe languages? Spanish and French are very similar and English is similar to those two as well.

You ask yourself if perfect grammar really matters, if yes then this is an issue for you, if not you shouldn't really mind.

What's important is not to blame people as it won't do any help

they are not similar at all as we use different words and verbs when french or Spanish change the same word depending on context.
or the sentence structure is formatted completely different
